(1) develop the ability to construct various discourses like
narrative, script, write up etc.
(2) develop proper out look towards dignity of labour.
(3) create idea about military life.
Learning Outcomes: The pupils,
(1) think and evaluate critically the issues related to labour
(2) get awareness of the theme of the story
(3) familiarize new words
(4) reads the story with correct pronunciation, stress, pause and
intonation.
Pre-requisites: The pupils,
(1) knows about mans labour as the source of human civilization.
(2) knows about army and soldiers
(3) has read stories about military life.

Activity Cards, Flash Cards.

Teachers activity
Informal interaction: The Teacher communicates informally
with the students to create rapport with them.
Entry activity: Teacher shows the pictures of different types of
labourers and their labour in presentation and speaks about the
dignity of labour
Link talk: Teacher-Let us hear a story of a soldier who is very
sincere and dedicated to his work. Teacher writes title on
blackboard- The Man who knew too Much- Alexander
Baron
Introduction: Teacher gives a brief introduction of the story.
Teacher introduces the writer Alexander Baron.
Model reading by the Teacher: Teacher reads the paragraphs
1-3 with proper stress, pause, intonation and pronunciation
after asking the students to open the textbook and listens.

Individual reading and Track reading: Teacher asks the


Students to read silently the paragraphs and mark ? ,! With
pencil while they read to keep track of their reading and after
that ask one of the students to make a loud read.

Sharing in groups: Teacher asks the students to share their


ideas and feelings about the topic.
Glossary reference: Teacher asks the pupils to refer to
glossary and to find the meaning of the difficult words. Teacher
shows the pictures of rifle, stooping and musketry in power

Scaffolding Questions: Teacher asks some questions to
students.

2. What is the nickname of Private Quelch?
3. What is the appearance of the Sergeant?
4. Why is he named as Professor?
Discourse: Teacher asks the students to write the profile of the
author using hints. Teacher explains the hints.
Group writing: Teacher asks the students to write the
discourses in groups.
Editing: Teacher edits each answer.
Presentation: Teacher asks each group to present their answer.
Teachers Version: Teacher presents her own version of
answer in a chart and asked the students to copy it.
Assignment: Teacher gives a question for assignment workMake a list of weapons used in warfare. Teacher writes the
question in blackboard and asked the students to copy it.
