Important information for our Policyholders/Members


We would like to advise that for those holding dental cover,
we can now provide out-patient dental care treatment on a
direct billing basis.
Direct Billing

Eligibility

Effective 1st February 2012, dental outpatient services can be


accessed on a direct billing basis at specified facilities which
are part of Aetna International select dental network. The
existing network list is given herewith for your ease of
reference. This list may be revised periodically and will be soon
made available on Aetna International member website.

This benefit applies to all policies commencing or renewing on


or after 1st February 2012. All Eligible members will receive
updated ID cards to make it easy for the health care providers
to administer claims on the patients behalf.

members can obtain outpatient dental care without
pre-paying for services and seeking claims reimbursement.
Network providers will now be able to direct bill Aetna
for these dental services, similar to our inpatient care
arrangements. This billing enhancement currently applies
only to our International Health Plan and Regional Health
Plan cover.

Dental care services


Eligible members have the option of accessing care with direct
billing when they visit Aetna select dental network providers,
for treatments and procedures covered under Aetna
International dental benefits for
1. Routine dental treatment
2. Major restorative dental treatment
Pre-authorisation is required prior to any dental treatment.
Therefore while visiting the dental care facilities, members
need to present their membership card, and providers will
follow the direct billing procedures with Aetna.

As per the new medical card design:


Dental: Y denotes that the member is eligible to avail direct
billing for dental services; this detail will be displayed on
cards issued to members whose policies do not have a
moratorium on the dental benefit.
Dental: N means a member is not eligible to avail direct
billing for dental services and will have to pay relevant costs;
this detail will be used on cards if a members policy has a
moratorium on the dental benefit and/or if the dental benefit
is not available.
Coinsurance: 0% or 25% (whichever is applicable)
There is no change to our existing benefit structure or
premium for Dental direct bill services. These administrative
changes are designed to simplify member access to care.
