sequence of the coffer disks unless it is absolutely necessary. Otherwise, system data may be
damaged.

Do not insert or remove disks in other slots unless necessary. Otherwise, data loss may occur.

The figures above show the network layout. You must assign two IP addresses to the
maintenance terminal. Ensure that one IP address resides on the same network segment as
those of the S5500T management network ports and the other resides on the same network
segment as those of the S5500T iSCSI service network ports. The application server connects
to the S5500T using Fibre Channel HBAs on the server and LC-LC multi-mode optical fibers.

10.5.1 Building a Fibre Channel SAN in the SUSE Linux

Environment

Installing a Fibre Channel HBA Driver in the SUSE Linux Environment

ht
tp

Step 1 Log in to the Linux-based application server as user root. Check whether the host has
identified the HBA. If the host already has the driver for the HBA, go to step 2.
Log in to the application server as user root.
Run cat /etc/issue to query the operating system version. The output is as follows:

in

#cat /etc/issue

Welcome to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2 (x86_64) - Kernel \r (\l).

ta

Check whether the host has identified the Fibre Channel HBA. SUSE 10 has an HBA driver.
Run cat /sys/class/fc_host/host5/node_name to query the WWN of the HBA. If this file does
not exist, go to step 2. The output is as follows:

ob

# cat /sys/class/fc_host/host5/node_name
0x2000001b32923fd8

Mo

re

ma

te

ri

al

Step 2 If the host did not identify the Fibre Channel HBA, you must manually install the HBA driver.
Download the RPM package from the official website of the HBA vendor and upload it to the
application server.

Install the RPM package compatible with the existing SUSE Linux operating system.
Log in to the application server as user root.
Run rpm ivh XXX where XXX is the name of the Fibre Channel HBA driver RPM package
to install. Then perform step 1 again to check the result.
