FLEXIBLE LEARNING ACTIVITY # 1

Interview Questions:
a. What programs do you facilitate/ implement for the following services:
Information Service
o Freshmen orientation, include different orientations
that would help freshmen students adjust in the
university.
o New student orientation
o Guidance learning session, exclusive for 1 st year
OBTEC students. Each first year section is assigned
to a particular guidance councilor. Students include in
the guidance learning session program can approach
their assigned guidance councilors for counseling
anytime.
Placement Service
o Includes the sectioning of the students. In this service,
each student is assessed concerning the issues he or
she may encounter if placed in a certain section.
Here, conflicts between students are also looked at to
ensure that a student would be placed in a section he
or she is comfortable with. Students with special
cases are also assessed. For example, a student with
a speech defect would be recommended to be place
in a special school that coul properly address his or
her case since the program/curriculum of traditional
schools might hinder his or her growth. For college
students, placement service offers to help them be
placed in placed in practice teaching venue suitable
for them. Place where the student lives would be
taken into consideration when choosing a practice
teaching venue.

Follow-up Service
o Follow-up after counseling. This includes the
monitoring of the case of the student even after being
counseled.
o Tracking the student. In this service, a counselor
tracks a student even after he or she already
graduated from the school. They try to check their
information, like the current work, if they have been
successful in their chosen fields.
Career Guidance
o In career guidance for preschool, student were asked
what they want to be when they grow up. Since they
are still in preschool, this was matched with the
requirement of having to dress up as what they want
to be when they grow up. For grade school, a dress
up as to what they want to be when they grow up was
also implemented, but they should have a short oral
presentation about it. For highschool students, they
attend talks regarding what carrer path they should
take or what is fit for them. These talks also discuss
which schools they should take if they have chosen a
certain course already, as well as their requirements.
For college students, pre-employment seminars are
provided. In these seminars, college students are
taught how to properly answer interview questions as
well as to how to write a resum properly.
b. What are the types of tests usually administered to students (even to
those without referral)? How about to students with special cases or
those referred for testing? As a teacher, can we access the test results
of the students?
Test of personality, interests, needs, aptitude, and intelligence
are administered to students. For students with special cases or
those referred for testing, they are referred to a psychometrician
for them to give a more specific case based on their cases. The
accessibility of the test results of the students for teachers
depends on the type tests. For example, diagnostic test results
of a student would only be available to the adviser of the said
student. If youre no his or her teacher, the information would
not be given to you. Test results for tests such as personality
and aptitude tests would only be available and given to a
teacher if he or she has a report order because these results
are confidential. Buut if you are involved in the case, or if the
certain requested information would help the teacher
understand and help the student, it could be given but not
everything what would be given to the teacher would only be
the relative information regarding the case.

c. What are the non-test appraisals usually given to students? What is

the reason for administering test and non-test appraisal to students?
An example would be a biographical sketch. The reason for this
is to be able to know the student more. By asking them to write
one, the life story of the student could be easily assessed. A
sociogram could also be used since this test is administered to
assess the dynamics of relationships inside the classroom.
d. What are the usual cases being handled by counselors in the
secondary level/ high school level?
Most of the cases handled by the counselors are issues of
students regarding family problems, crab mentality between
highschool students, peer issues, love life, abuse (physical an
sexual), and also sexuality issues.
