Scope: Develop and maintain engineering standards

and publications for tape, reels, magazines, trays, etc.
for handling components in production. Also, provide
technical input to US national positions on related
international standards issues and proposals.
Standards:

EIA-481 for Surface Mount Tape and Reel Packaging

EIA-468 for Tape and Reel of Radial-Leaded Components
EIA-296 for Axial Device Tape and Reel
EIA-948 and EIA-960 for Automated Handling in Thermoformed

Title: 8 mm Through 200 mm Embossed Carrier Taping

and 8 mm & 12 mm Punched Carrier Taping of Surface
Mount Components for Automatic Handling
Scope: The standard covers requirements for taping
surface mount components. Complementary standards
for specialized taping requirements are included in the
addendum.
Introduction: The standard was formulated to provide
dimensions and tolerances necessary to tape surface
mount components such that they may be automatically
handled.
