i.Where and when was the building built?


The building was built at the first courtyard of Topkapi Palace in Constantinople,Turkey.

Built in the 4th century AD over the ruins of pagan temple by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine I. The wooden construction was burned during the Nika Riot in 532 AD and it was renovated by Justinian
I,rapresenting typical characteristics of early Byzantine architecture.

ii. How the context, building period and evolution makes the building historically significant and meaningful?
Hagia Irene is the first church built in Canstatinople and it is also the only church that was not turned into a mosque after Ottamans conquered Canstatinople.Byzantine architecture had been leftover some of the
history significant and meaningful for architectures history until today.

Byzantine architecture is the architecture of the Byzantine Empire, also known as the later Roman or Eastern Roman Empire during the period of 330 A.D.

One of the most interesting characteristic of Byzantines Architecture was the domed roof. To support dome roof from a square base, the squinch and the pendentive was used in most of the architecture.

In Byzantines Architecture, churches been builtby the influence of the culture and religious. Byzantines churches combined the basilica and symmetrical central-plan religious structures resulted in the
characteristic Byzantine Greek-cross-plan church. The plan was designed with a square central mass and four ams of equal length. As a result, it was one of the most significant history of the evolution of
churches in architectures history.

Beside that, the Vaults was decorated by Mosaic to imagery befit Byzantine culture, which emphasised the power of a sole emperor and the authority of one true religion.

Furthermore, Byzantine's Architecture featuring souring space and sumptuous decoration such as marble columns and inlay, inlaid stone pavement and some of a few architecture featuring gold offered ceiling.
The featuring and the characteristic of Byzantine's Architecture extended throughout the Chrustian East and in some place, notably Russia, remained in used after the fall of Constantinople 1453. Byzantine's
Architecture remain a significant history and meaningful is because the characteristic and cultural and religion influence.
