WORK EXPERIENCE
• 7th and 8th Grade Mathematics Teacher – Marion, IN June 2009-Present
Responsibilities include instructing students in many areas of math, establishing
classroom procedures and policies in the classroom, establishing a rapport with
my students, communicating with the parents, preparing interesting and fun
lessons, preparing homework and assessments, researching information and
teaching techniques to ensure knowledge is current, and attending many
Professional Development sessions. Full time.

• 7 Grade Volleyball Coach – Marion, IN August 2009-October 2009
Responsibilities include developing and organizing the middle school volleyball
program, to encourage each student-athlete’s confidence and ability, and to
teach fundamentals of the game.
• Student Assistant Volleyball Coach – Hope College, Holland, MI Fall 2008
Responsibilities include working with team during practice, keeping and record
statistics for team during and after matches, traveling with the team, and
coaching at volleyball camps over the summer, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
• Hope College Admissions – Holland, MI Fall 2005-Fall 2008
Student receptionist: responsibilities included answering phones, greeting
students that visit the office, enter and search for information on school’s
database, and completing the mail route two times a week. Hours vary each
semester.
• PAC Camp Director – Hillsdale, MI, Summer 2007
Organized and led Christian summer day camp: responsibilities included
contacting and scheduling sites for activities, designing and ordering t-shirts,
training high school counselors, and supervising camp.
• Hillsdale County Community Foundation – Hillsdale, MI, Summer 2006
Head receptionist for non-profit organization: responsibilities included answering
phones, filing many types of papers, organizing supply closets, creating bulletin
boards and visuals for front window, keeping detailed schedule for the four
employees, and organizing many appearances around the county.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
• Creekside Middle School – Zeeland, MI, Spring 2009
Student teaching semester, 6th grade mathematics – observed for first 5 weeks
while taking classes at Hope; in February 2009 began teaching full-time.
Teaching responsibilities included teaching each class period, lesson planning,
grading, parent teacher conferences, staff meetings, after school homework help.
Hope College responsibilities included turning in weekly and daily lesson plans,
weekly progress reports, self analyses, and unit plans.
• Pine Creek Elementary School – Holland, MI, Fall 2008
Field Placement through Hope College, 4th grade classroom – taught many
lessons in language arts and mathematics, worked with individual students on
several assignments, completed reading records, helped with DIBELS, tested
students on literacy, as well as observed and evaluated many aspects of
teaching.
• St. Paschal’s Baylon Primary School – Liverpool, England, UK, May 2008
May Term through Hope College, Year 1 and 3 classrooms (equivalent to pre-
kindergarten and 2nd grade classrooms) – Observed different teaching styles in
the classrooms, studied differences between England’s National Curriculum and
Michigan’s curriculum. Participated in shared and guided reading with students,
and assisted with hands on activities throughout the month. In the classroom for
2 ½ weeks.
• Rosebud South Elementary – Rosebud, SD, May 2007
May Term through Hope College, 4th grade classrooms – Observed in the
classroom, planned two lessons and presented them to the fourth grade class.
Chaperoned class field trip. In the classroom for 2 ½ weeks.
• New Groningen Elementary School – Holland, MI, Spring 2007
Field Placement through Hope College, Elementary Resource Room - continued
work with individual students on fluency, phonics, work banks and memorization.
In the classroom at least once a week for 12 weeks.
• Harrington Elementary School – Holland, MI Fall 2006, Fall 2007
Field Placement through Hope College, 1st and 3rd grade classrooms – helped
with reading groups, shared and guided reading; taught lessons and completed
one-on-one work with students in need of extra guidance. In each classroom
once a week for 12 weeks.
