linguistic features the author applies. At the start we can identify the use of a discourse marker, Trish starts by saying ``ok now, this marks the initial of the talk show, it is signaling to the receiver ( the audience ) that the talk show has started and indicates that she is the dominant speaker which manages the agenda and control whats going on during the conversation. However when Trevor pauses he uses it as hedges. The conversation has clearly reached his sensitive spot, thing he feel uncomfortable to talk about, so he pauses to consider what is the best thing to say and how to say it in the smoothest way, his purpose is to soften some surprising news for the receiver, which is Trisha and the audience. The numerous adjency pairs set the structure of the talk show. For this talk show it takes the form of question-answer, where Trisha poses the question and Trevor answers it. Trisha asks following her agenda trying to lead Trevor into telling the answer to entertain the audience.
