There are students in this class who have never taken Spanish before as well as students who took
Spanish 1 in 7th and 8th grade, and occasionally some students who have exposure to Spanish at home.

Warm up: Q & A about classes in Valley Southwoods (VSW) (ppt)

Work with partner to ask and answer questions about VSW

Culture questions

Select students will briefly present their mini-research questions to the class

Flashcards

Know/Dont know piles

Compete against your partner in 30 seconds how many vocab flashcards can you get through
(online countdown timer on the projector)

Reading & Listening Stations

Teacher: give station directions overview before students start.


(Note: All the listenings are posted on the class website.)
Take a piece of paper, your notes, and something to write with no matter where you start. One
student in each team read the directions at each station.

Station 1: Listening Copy down the chart on the directions sheet. Fill it in as you listen.

Station 2: Reading Read the descriptions. Answer the questions in English

Station 3: Listening - Listen to the dialogue. Answer the questions as True or False.

Station 4: Reading Read then answer the questions.

Station 5: Taboo! Game! Divide into 2 teams. Take turns. Describe the vocab IN SPANISH,
WITHOUT saying the vocab word. Try to get your team member to guess as many words as they
can in 30 seconds. DONT skip any cards!

Station 6: Vocab Descriptions Try to guess/write the vocab WITHOUT your notes FIRST, then
use your notes if you need a little help.
