ASNT NDT LEVEL III


EXAMINATION HINTS

In all the ASNT NDT Level III Exams multiple choice questions only are asked. Select a correct
answer from out of 4 or 5 options (A, B, C, D, E) and fill the corresponding circle in the separate
answer sheet (use only pencils [pencils/sharpener/eraser are provided by the ASNT for the exam]
to write/answer in the answer sheet).

In NDT-BASIC about 35 40 questions are asked in exam from RT, UT, MT, PT and VT.
About 510 questions are asked in exam from other NDT methods (AE, ET, LT, IR, NR,VA) at
Level I and II to check broad understanding of the principle, advantages, limitation and
disadvantages of each method by candidates.
No Specification/Procedure in the NDT-BASIC exam.
In NDT-BASIC Exam few problems (about 2 5 Questions) are asked.
Reading of the PIRT/ASNT Study Guide books line by line and understanding of the concepts
are sufficient for ASNT BASIC-NDT Exam. No need to read any extra materials for the exam
purpose.
In our NDT-BASIC Question Bank (QB) about 93 Questions for SNT-TC-1A/ CP-189, 338
Questions for Materials and Proc. for NDT Tech. and 271 Questions for NDT Methods (which
covers all 11 NDT methods for exam purpose) are given. So going through and studying our QB
in addition to PIRT/ASNT Study Guide books is sufficient to pass BASIS-NDT exam without
any difficulty.
Examinations administered for qualification should result in a passing composite grade of at least
80 percent, with no individual section having a passing grade less than 70 percent

Specification and Safety sections have to be answered very carefully since number of questions
is less.
Examinations administered for qualification should result in a passing composite grade of at least

are asked.
Do the calculations and find the solution for problem-oriented questions, so that by practice the
time can be saved in exam.
In UT Exam more questions are asked on Immersion Technique.

Suggestions for Reading (Tentative):


First read the PIRT Level III book(s) and ASNT Level III Study Guide book(s) line by line and
understand the concepts.
Second read PIRT Question Bank (QB) and ASNT Questions & Answers Book.
Third do the calculations and find the solution for problem-oriented questions given in PIRT QB
and ASNT Questions & Answers Book.

Candidates has to bring a electronic calculator with a self-contained power supply. A


programmable calculator is permitted as long as it does not have an alphanumeric keyboard.
Candidates who speak English as a second language will be permitted to bring a translation
dictionary. No electronic dictionaries will be allowed.
