Consultant / Specifier Note: This product specification guide is written in accordance to the Construction Specifications
Institute (CSI) Format - 2005 Edition.
This section must be carefully reviewed and edited by the Consulting Engineer/Specifier to meet the requirements of each
individual the project and local code. Coordinate with other specification sections, drawings, drawing notes, schedules and
mechanical details.
*It is important to Delete all unnecessary Specifier Notes when editing this section for a concise and clear
specification.

PART 1 - GENERAL

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Non-metal ductwork as indicated on drawings and by requirements of this section.


Required type of non-metal ductwork for this project is a: 100% Post Consumer Fabric Duct, Air
Dispersion System.
DESIGN, QUALITY ASSURANCE, AND CODE COMPLIANCE
1.

Any production facility used by manufacturer must be ISO 9001 (quality management
system) and 14001 (environmental impact management system) certified.

2.

All product sections must be labeled with the logo and classification marking of
Underwriters Laboratories, order number and manufacture date.

3.

Material must be comprised of 100% Post-consumer recycled content polyester


verified by a third party such as SCS Global Services.

4.

Antibacterial/antimicrobial agent applied from factory meeting test standard ISO 20645

5.

Product must be classified in accordance with the 25/50 flame spread/smoke


development requirements of UL723 based on NFPA 90A - 1993, "Installation of Air
Conditioning and Ventilating Systems". In addition products must be classified in
accordance with ICC Evaluation Service AC167 and UL 2518.

6.

Fabrics shall meet minimum criteria for use in ISO Class 4 application (Clean room, non
shedding material) as defined by ISO 14644-1.

7.

Textile Material shall meet minimum tensile strength warp1880/ weft1090N as defined by
ISO 136934-1.

8.

Textile Material must have documented ability to dissipate static electricity (anti-static
properties) for use in volatile / explosion protected production facilities, sensitive
electronic equipment, server rooms, and data storage.

9.

Fabric Duct air dispersion system must designed in software which documents,
calculates and provides: pressure loss, inlet velocity, turbulent condition warnings, throw
capability, entrainment, deflection, flow models, sizing, installation methods, sound
generated and temperature corrections.

Submit copy of third party certification of 100% POST CONSUMER RECYCLED CONTENT

Submit UL file number under which product is Classified by Underwriters Laboratories to UL723

Submit documentation for fabric strength ISO 13934-1

Submit documentation for Anti Static properties

Submit manufacturer's drawings indicating size / placement of distribution method, and


mounting/installation instructions

Submit manufacturers technical product data for fabric distribution method

Submit manufacturer's performance data for each fabric duct system, including airflow rate, inlet
velocity, static pressure and exit velocity out of duct system

Submit manufacturers maintenance data

WARRANTY

PART 3 - EXECUTIONManufacturer must provide a 10 Year Non-Prorated Warranty. Prorated 10


year warranties are not accepted.

FABRIC DUCT / AIR DISPERSION SYSTEM

Prihoda Recycled Fabric Duct Air Dispersion System shall be constructed of PMI-re fabric. The
material is a woven fire retardant and permeable fabric complying with the following
characteristics:

antimicrobial agent from manufacturer
Weight: 6.5 oz./yd per ASTM D3776 minimum

Available Standard Colors: White (RAL 9016), Light Grey (Pantone 420/RAL 7035),
Dark Grey (Pantone 424/RAL 7037), Blue (Pantone 7462/RAL 5005). Custom color
available, Architect/Owner must specify PANTONE or RAL number.
Temperature Range: -75F to +230F
Permeability: 2 cfm (to prevent condensation only)
Fire Retardant: Must meet the requirements in NFPA 90-A, ICC AC-167 and UL2518

Provide system in sections optimized for maintenance (16 maximum for diameters over
32), connected by zippers. Zippers must provide closure completely around the
circumference to prevent leakage.
Each section to have a unique tag including information about: manufacturers order
number, position, diameter of section, length of section, maintenance instruction, code
compliance and contact details for spare parts.
Zippered inlet connection.
Endcap can be zippered or sewn to the last duct section as required.
Equalizers (flow correctors) and/or dampers to be included as shown on plans or
schedules.
Include hooks which slide into track profile or snap on to wire/cable or continuous fabric
strip which slides into track if shown in detail or noted on plans
Include SS inlet clamp for securing to metal outlet connection point.

Do not use fabric duct air diffusers in concealed locations (unless pressurized plenum
space intended for air distribution).
Fabric diffusers shall be designed from minimum 0.25 water gage to 3 as the maximum
0.5 being the standard.
Design temperatures between 75F and 230F
Manufacturer shall approve all technical design parameters.

Single Cable/Wire Suspension - One row cable system located 1.25 above 12 oclock
of Fabric duct system. Fabric Duct system to be attached to hardware using one single
row of plastic hooks located 12 oclock spaced 20 inches. Hardware to include cable,
cable clamps, turnbuckles, and tie down straps as required. Support hangers spaced at
16 feet.
Double Cable/Wire Suspension - (Recommended for diameters over 32) Two row
cable system with hooks located at 3 and 9 oclock on Fabric duct system. Fabric Duct
system to be attached to wire / cable using double row of plastic hooks located 3 and 9
oclock spaced 20 inches. Hardware to include cable, cable clamps, turnbuckles, and tie
down straps as required. Support hangers spaced at 16 feet.
Triple Cable/Wire suspension (Recommended for diameters over 54) Fabric Duct
system to be attached to cable/wire using three rows of plastic hooks located 3, 12 and 9
oclock spaced 20 inches. Hardware to include cable, cable clamps, turnbuckles, and tie
down straps as required. Support hangers spaced at 16 feet.
Single aluminum track profile - Fabric Duct system to be attached to track profile using
plastic gliders located at 12 oclock spaced 20 inches or continuous reinforced fabric
strip. Wire/cable hangers spaced at 6.6 feet. *Note to increase spacing up to 13 specify
reinforced track option.
Double aluminum track profile (recommended for diameters over 32) Fabric Duct
system to be attached to track profile using plastic gliders or reinforced fabric strips
located at 9 and 3 oclock spaced 20 inches or continuous reinforced fabric strip.

Provide adequate pre-filtering (MINIMUM EU3/MERV 5) prior to the fabric duct system, all
according to manufacturers specifications.
Provide fans supplying constant static pressure or VAV systems permitted if included in initial
design and Fabric ductwork is designed accordingly.
Soft starter, VSD,VFD, recommended when possible.

PART 3 - INSTALLATION

3.1

INSTALLATION OF PRIHODA RECYCLED FABRIC DUCT SYSTEM

PART 3 - EXECUTIONExamine area and conditions under which the Prihoda Recycled Fabric Duct
system is to be installed. Do not continue any installation until unsatisfactory conditions have
been corrected.
PART 3 - EXECUTIONInstall chosen suspension system in accordance with the requirements of the
manufacturer. Installation instructions to be provided by the manufacturer with product.
PART 3 - EXECUTIONCoordinate layout with suspended ceiling, lighting layouts, and similar finished
work.
SCHEDULE 2 - CLEANING

PART 3 - EXECUTIONClean air handling unit and other ductwork prior to the Prihoda Recycled fabric
duct system as it is installed. Make sure that all dust and debris from installation is removed
from the air handling unit and other ductwork before connecting the fabric duct system.
PART 3 - EXECUTIONIf the Fabric duct system becomes soiled during the installation, it should be
removed and cleaned following the manufacturers cleaning instructions.
