Director of Leadership Development

Responsibilities: To organize and lead programs aimed at increasing leadership


development opportunities for ASWSUV members and the student body
as a whole. This position works closely with the Vice-President for
internal ASWSUV development.

Duties: The Director of Leadership Development shall have and exercise the
following powers and duties:

A. Perform duties in accordance with the ASWSUV Constitution and By-laws


B. Plan, organize, and help lead one (1) large-scale leadership development presentation
per semester for the student body and/or local high school students including, but not
limited to:
1. Identifying student leadership development interests
2. Securing effective speakers at appropriate costs
3. Coordinating all aspects of the agenda
4. Communicating advertising needs with the Director of Public Relations at
least three (3) weeks prior to the presentation
C. Help plan, organize, and lead one session at the ASWSUV Summer Retreat with the
President and Vice-President
D. Help plan, organize, and lead the ASWSUV Fall and Spring Training Retreats with
the Vice-President which includes, but is not limited to:
1. Scheduling dates that work for all ASWSUV members
2. Helping to identify pertinent topics
3. Preparing and distributing agendas in advance of training
4. Securing effective speakers at appropriate costs
5. Performing post-meeting evaluations
E. Help plan, organize, and lead monthly All-Student Government meetings with the
Vice-President including, but not limited to:
1. Scheduling dates that work for all ASWSUV members
2. Identifying pertinent topics
3. Preparing and distributing agendas in advance
4. Securing effective speakers at appropriate costs
5. Performing post-retreat evaluations
F. Help organize the Student Leadership Recognition Program by sitting on the planning
committee as the ASWSUV representative
G. Work with the Office of Student Involvement Intern to plan the Leadership Seminar
Series
H. Help plan, organize and lead Registered Student Organization orientations with the
Office of Student Involvement
I. Help plan, organize and lead two (2) club-focused workshops per semester with the
Office of Student Involvements Program Coordinator
J. Communicate and manage itemized expenditures of the Leadership Development
budget with the President and/or Vice-President
K. Provide an oral and written report at each Senate meeting.
L. Attend as many ASWSUV sponsored events as possible
M. Attend all mandatory ASWSUV meetings including, but not limited to:
1. Retreats
2. Executive Team meetings
3. All Student Government meetings
4. One-on-one meetings with the President and/or Vice-President
N. Perform any duties deemed necessary by the ASWSUV President and/or Vice-
President

Requirements: The Director of Leadership Development must be a member of ASWSUV


and be enrolled in at least six (6) credits per semester during the regular
academic year. He/she must be in good academic standing, maintaining
no less than a 2.0 GPA.

Term: The Director of Leadership Development will hold office from


commencement to commencement or until their duly elected successors
take office.

Salary: The Director of Leadership Development shall be paid fifty percent (50%)
of the ASWSUV President’s salary, thus eight thousand dollars ($8000)
for the entire year.

Hours: The Director of Leadership Development shall contribute at least fifteen


(15) posted office hours each week to his/her duties until commencement.
Posted office hours must be held between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00
PM. Workloads may require additional hours.
