The main subjects of the lessons of Course 1 can be found in chapter 1 till 12 of the book
All You Need in Maths ( Pearson Benelux BV, ISBN 978-90-430-32858
Author: Jan van de Craats)
For the most of you this is Mathematics which you already know and for some of you it will
contain new things. In this document youll find the type of exercises we want you to
understand and to have the skills to solve it without the use of a calculator.
If you think you are already able to solve this exercises it will be a waste of time to join all the
lessons till November before you can do the test of this course. Thats why we give you the
opportunity to do it earlier. You must really convince us that you have all those mathematical
skills so if your mark is greater than 7.0 then this mark will already be the final mark of the
Course. If it is less than 7.0 then youll have to do the test in November. ( It is always possible to
do the test in November if you want to improve your mark even if it was greater than 7.0 )
Normally (in the Dutch system) a mark greater than 5.5 is sufficient but for this special
possibility it must be greater than 7.0
You have to find the answers of these exercises by yourself so its really a case of self-study
because there are no extra lessons Mathematics in the first two weeks but .
if you can do it (without any help) .. you really deserve the good mark.
Good luck with your preparations.
The test is planned on Thursday 10 September 8.45 10.15 hrs in classroom 3.12
