Collins has used its world-renowned language

expertise to develop a multilingual databank of
thousands of words and phrases: Collins Multilingual
Translator. This linguistic resource is suitable for both
business and leisure travellers and language learners
alike and can be exploited both in print and digitally.

We can develop this database to suit your

requirements adding further languages and/or
number of words and phrases.
All words and phrases are accompanied by
text-to-speech audio files.

Collins Language

Collins Multilingual Translator consists of two parts:

Wordbank
The Wordbank consists of 10,000 entries per language. All words come with relevant linguistic information such as part
of speech and gender. Feminine and irregular forms are provided where appropriate. Disambiguating information is
provided for homographs (words that are written the same but pronounced differently).

Phrasebank
The Phrasebank consists of 2,000 phrases per language, organised under 12 main topics that are subdivided into 67
subtopics. Topics covered are: talking to people, getting around, accommodation, shopping, leisure, communications,
practicalities, health and beauty, exchange visitors, eating and drinking, and time.
All phrases include the masculine and feminine forms where appropriate.
The database is available as xml files. This format gives developers the ultimate flexibility when designing translation
products for their customers.

Possible uses of Collins Multilingual Translator:
