is over now. What is your overall analysis of the paper?

Here is the detailed JEE Main 2014 analysis by Namrata

Deshpande, Director, Vidyalankar. The director shares her
valuable insight on the trends of asked questions and difficulty level of question paper. Read the full interview below-

Namrata Deshpande: Talking about the overall analy-

sis, the paper was quite good. If we compare the paper with
last years JEE Main, it was definitely slightly more difficult.
Last year, students felt that Physics was the most difficult
amongst PCM. This year, students feel that Mathematics
was the toughest.

Careers360: How similar or different was the paper

compared to past year?

Namrata Deshpande: No change in pattern and marking scheme. The paper is similar to the last years JEE Main
exam. The format is the same with 90 questions in total and
30 questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Each correct answer gets four marks and each wrong answer
gets -1 mark. There is no negative mark for unanswered
questions.

Careers360: Can you give a brief idea about the diffi-

culty level of the exam? Which subject was the toughest

in the exam? Which was comparatively easier?
Namrata Deshpande: Maths paper was more difficult
as compared to Chemistry and Physics.
Chemistry was easy but students generally make careless
mistakes, which translates into a greater negative score in
Chemistry.
