BOWL FOR THE CURE FABULOUS FOUR

ESSAY CONTEST IS UNDERWAY
ARLINGTON, Texas For two consecutive years, the Bowl for the
Cure Fabulous Four essay contest has sent a group of four women on an
exciting bowling adventure topped off by taking part in the United States
Bowling Congress Womens Championships.
Not only is the Fabulous Four contest returning for another year, but the
final stop of the ultimate bowling trip will be Las Vegas and the 2016
Womens Championships at the new Bowling Plaza at South Point Hotel,
Casino and Spa.
Bowl for the Cure is a year-round fundraising initiative sponsored by
USBC in partnership with Susan G. Komen. The Fabulous Four essay
contest is designed to raise awareness about breast cancer and help honor
four remarkable women who have gone through a breast cancer diagnosis.
Angel Crosby of Garrett, Indiana, was one of last years Fabulous Four
winners. The group helped kick off the 2015 Womens Championships by
throwing out the ceremonial first ball.
Its absolutely amazing, said Crosby after bowling in the event. Its
been a long road to get here, and Im glad that I kept the fight. I wouldnt
change this for the world. Im still in awe of everything thats happened
here, and for us getting to go out there and throw that first ball that was
a little scary, but I wouldnt trade that for the world, either.
This years Fabulous Four essay contest, open to women who have been
impacted by breast cancer and/or have been involved in supporting the
fight against breast cancer, is now underway. To enter, go to
BOWL.com/FabulousFour and submit an essay.
The essay submission period will close Dec. 16 with entries going to a
special selection panel that will include previous Fabulous Four winners
along with Susan G. Komen and USBC staff. Contest winners will be
announced in late January.
The Fabulous Four winners will receive a five-day trip that will start in
the Dallas/Fort Worth area with a tour of Komen headquarters and a special celebration dinner. The group also will go the International Bowling
Campus in Arlington for a tour of the International Bowling Museum and
Hall of Fame, and then receive lessons from the Team USA staff at the
International Training and Research Center.

Youth Travelers Post 41 Deuces

By Vince Albrecht
FAIRLAWN, NJ - In the Stan Niemiec Youth Travel Leagues first
appearance of the season at Fair Lawn Lanes, the house plastic-sticks
succumbed meekly to the onslaught of the young keglers, surrendering
forty-one 200s, three 700s and five 600s.
Three players flirted with perfection-Holiday IIs Esteban Garcia with
the front seven, teammate Tom Chamberlain with eight and Boontons
Erik Kattermann the first eleven, stopped by a cross-over pocket 6-pin.
Tom Chamberlain lifted his average to 214 with his stellar 236-233-268737, the sessions best threesome. His Holiday II squad flushed the pin
deck with a closing 891 net in a sweep of seven points from the vacancy. In addition to Toms 268, Esteban posted 236, Wade Chamberlain
194 [following a second game 202] and Jared Duncan 193.
When the dust of obliterated pins had settled, Erik Kattermanns 231200-299-730 put Boonton over the top, snapping a seven-game losing
skein with five of seven points against Bowler City I. Also rolling well
were mates Mark Howarth 214-202-607, Peter Hancock 193-188 and
Rocco Pascale 183. Sparking BC I were Jonmikal Sepero 223, Anthony
Rizzo 223-201 and Kristen Kane 210-205.
Despite continuing to put up huge numbers, Hi-Tor dropped its third
consecutive contest, this one to a torrid Fair Lawn team which predictably shot well on its home turf. Fair Lawn lit up the telescores showing Hunter Perry 241-213, Tyler Nappi 225-223-625, Matt Myers 221204 and Hassan Izzard 202 in recording team handicap highs of 10931048 in snaring five points, 3068-2899. Hi-Tors posts were impressive
as usual as Brandon Smith hit 235-257-214-706, Nick Varano 234-214206-654, Johnny Toscano 237-204-621 and 14-year-old Joseph Ardiri
with a closing 191 single.
Bowler City III moved into a three-way tie for second place by knocking Bowler City II from the top rung, 2603-2493 behind Nathan Tombo
230, Derek Lewandowski 213 and Gianni Calzadilla 199-189. BC IIs
best was Matt Burzynskis third game 213.
Rounding out the days action, Montvale benefited from a clutch tenth
frame double by anchor Henry Tipping to win a nail-biter finale and five
of seven points from Holiday I, 2865-2749. Henry ignited his team with
227-202 while Joseph Mahoney contributed a 220, Chris Torres a pair of
199 singles and Dan Sproviero 187. Holiday Is Frank Magyar excelled
with 245-211-650, Nick Cilento added 215-212, Lilly Sigona 211-201
and David Neil 190.

Utah, will be enshrined in the Outstanding
USBC Performance category, Professional
Bowlers Association senior standout Harry
Sullins of Chesterfield Township, Michigan,
will become the newest name in the
Veterans category and longtime bowling
writer Joan Romeo of Van Nuys, California,
will be recognized for years of service to the
bowling industry.
The committee also slated eight bowlers
for the Superior Performance national ballot
that will be voted on by a panel of USBC
Hall of Fame members, board members and
veteran bowling writers.
The men's ballot includes Mike Durbin of
Livingston, Texas; David Ozio and Mark
Williams of Beaumont, Texas; Randy
Pedersen of Clermont, Florida; Mike
Scroggins of Amarillo, Texas and Danny
Wiseman of Baltimore.
The two competitors on the women's ballot are Kim Adler of Melbourne, Florida,
and Tammy Turner of West Palm Beach,
Florida.
The induction ceremony will take place
April 28 at the 2016 USBC Convention in
Las Vegas and will include those elected for
Superior Performance.
A look at the newly elected USBC Hall of
Famers:
Steve Kloempken
The 45-year-old right-hander's balanced
resume includes international success as a
past member of Team USA, a memorable
collegiate stint at Wichita State and two victories on the sport's biggest stage at the
USBC Open Championships.
Kloempken's two appearances on Team
USA (1991, 1994), were highlighted by
doubles and trios gold medals at the 1991
World Bowling Men's Championships in
Singapore. That momentum carried over to
his collegiate career, where he helped the
Shockers to three consecutive victories at
the Intercollegiate Team Championships
from 1993-1995.
In 27 years at the Open Championships,
Kloempken has a 213.5 average and won
titles in Team All-Events in 1993 and
Regular All-Events in 2003. He has seven
other top-10 finishes.

Harry Sullins
Sullins, a 58-year-old right-hander, will be
the 50th bowler inducted in the Veterans
category of the USBC Hall of Fame.
His resume includes five Professional
Bowlers Association national titles, the first
in 1986, along with 12 regional victories.
He also has found continued success on the
PBA50 Tour, earning three national titles
and more than a dozen regional wins. His
lone major championship was the 2009 PBA
Senior World Championship.
Sullins is known for his longevity and
owns the PBA record for consecutive tournament appearances with 239 from 19861993.
As a state and local standout, Sullins has
earned 10 city championships and nine state
titles, which helped earn him induction into
the Metro Detroit Hall of Fame (2002) and
Michigan State Bowling Association Hall of
Fame (2003).
Joan Romeo
Romeo has worked in various roles supporting the International Bowling Media
Association, World Bowling, International
Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum,
California Bowling Writers and the Team
USA program.
She has served as president (2012-2015)
and vice president (2010-2012) of the
IBMA, president of the California Bowling
Writers, an executive coordinator role for
World Bowling and as a trustee to the
IBM/HOF.
Romeo's continued dedication to the sport
has earned her some special awards, including the California Women's Bowling
Association Distinguished Service Award,
Columbia 300 Humanitarian Award,
Bowling Writers Association of America
Meritorious Service Award and BWAA
President's Award.
Romeo is the mother of USBC Hall of
Famer Robin Romeo and Tori Romeo, who
also competed professionally.
Through 2015, there are 412 members of
the USBC Hall of Fame - 215 in Superior
Performance, 116 in Meritorious Service,
49 in Veterans, 20 in Pioneers and 12 in

OAKLAND, NJ - Lately, it
seems to make little difference
where the venue is for the Stan

The seasons second visit to

fruitful for the young bowlers

Particularly impressive were
the two anchors, Fair Lawns
