A. General Information
Project Title: Clean and Green
Target Community/Beneficiaries: Students of 15 to 24 years of age from Barangay San
Miguel, Tarlac City, Tarlac
Community Background:

Barangay San Miguel has an estimated population of 9000 people, within the
community.

The barangay has two schools, one for elementary and the other for high school.

Out of school youths who did not finish school are enrolled in TESDA, and there
are a greater proportion of students than those of bystanders.

There are some cases of illnesses and diseases like dengue. It has an active health
center in the barangay.

This year, the focus of the barangay is to control and eradicate the cases of drug
abuse. Most common in the youth but some cases of elderly people.

Cases of crimes are reported to have an increase during 2007 to present due to
hard headed residents.

B. Objectives:
General Objective:
The objective of this development plan is to maintain with enthusiasm, the commitment to
beautify and protect the appearance of the barangay for the enjoyment and benefit of everyone.
Specific Objective:

To improve the physical surroundings of the community which include picking

up litter, planning projects to eradicate pollution, soil erosion and urban
flooding;

To provide opportunities for personal development of the community

especially for the youth to play leadership roles and take responsibility in the
planning and facilitation.

To make actions to help the environment and enable us to contribute to the

prevention of global warming.

Activities

Time Frame

Preparation:
In conformance of our
Clean and Green
project, we first talked
to the Barangay San
Miguels Captain and
some officials in order
to introduce and
explain the purpose
and objectives of our

said project, upon

which they later
agreed and helped
settle our time and
place in order to
conduct the project.
We posted some
printed
announcements
about a list of our
planned activities in
order to garner
participants.
We tried to talk,
encourage and invite
some of the
passersby and some
household mothers
and Lolas to join our
proposed agenda.
We borrowed and
bought some of the
needed equipment for
the cause.

Actual Activities:
Promoted our Clean
and Green project
through setting a
Bahay ko,
Responsibilidad ko
activity where the
residents were
encouraged to check
and secure their own
personal homes for
anything hazardous
that might harm
themselves and the
environment like stray
containers with
accumulated water
that could lead to a
mosquito growth
production and later
on, dengue.
We had a tree
planting activity in a
small vacated lot in
which the Barangay
Captain permitted us
to plant as well as in
a few small crop pots.
We had 3Rs activityReduce, Reuse and
Recycle. The
residents were asked
to make the most out
of any reusable scrap

that they could find

from their
surroundings and
make it into
something new and
useful. Some
examples that the
residents made were
some Christmas
decorations out of old
plastic bottles, a small
pouch from scraps of
old clothing, and
some made an old
stack of newspapers
into a folded and
interwoven paper
floor mats where
some of the kids or
elderly could lie down
and relax.
Had a Maki-Alam,
Makisama para
Umasenso activity
where we gave a very
brief lecture on some
tips and tricks on to
reduce climate
change like reusing
magazines and
newspapers, bringing
reusable plastic bags
to the market,
promoting CFL light
bulbs, and some
water and electricity
conservation tips to
save the environment
as well as money.
We encouraged the
residents to help each
other out in our Step
Up and Clean Your
Space activity where
we swept the streets
of the barangay
together with some
residents as well as
tried to promote the
proper way to
segregate garbage by
being the lead and
showed it to them.
We gave a bonus
activity which is a free
Zumba dance
session that was
open for any willing
residents who would

like to have some fun

exercise.
