ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
I believe that I have shown thorough to advanced development in Competencies 1 through 12. One of the most
important competencies that I have improved on is Competency 6. I have learned how to positively enforce the
desired behaviour in the classroom instead of focusing on the students who are not doing what the are supposed to. In
my classroom, I was using Class Dojo in order to manage my classroom. Students were motivated to gain points since
there were rewards given if they reached a certain amount of points as a classroom. I have also shown advanced
development in Competency 3 and Competency 4. If some elements of the lesson were not flowing, I was able to be
flexible and use my plan B for the rest of the lesson. I found new ways to instruct the students, for example, instead of
using the whiteboard to correct, I would plan my lessons ahead and use Prezi and PowerPoint to present the
information to the students in a fun and engaging way. Furthermore, I always asked my students for feedback after
they finished completing their activities in order for me to plan lessons that interest them.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
Competency #7: I would like to improve on the various ways that I can differentiate my classroom. I
did not get a chance to differentiate too much and would like to have more experience with this. I
have recently learned that differentiation can be done at more than one level. I was struggling to
find ways to differentiate for my exceptional students. I would always let them finish their work and
then send them to the front of the class to sit and compare answers. I would like to find extra
material for them to work on or more challenging tasks for them to complete. Furthermore, since
there were no students with IEPs in my class, I did not have a chance to differentiate much.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:

To improve on Competency 7, I will be asking my teaching team for different ways of
differentiating. I will also be attending conferences and workshops about the best ways to
differentiate instruction and content for my students. I will plan in advance the extra materials for
the students who have tendencies of finshing before the rest of the class.
