Method Statement of Paint Work (Ceilings)

1.
Mock-up
Mock up sample would be made for selection and approval of the Engineer prior to commencement of the works.
2.
Preparation
Clean and prepare concrete or cement plaster surfaces or other area to be painted. Efflorescence, chalk, dust,
dirt, grease and oils shall be removed.
3.
Primer & Putty
After Preparation of surface for paint, Primer coat will be applied. Approved Water based primer of Berger
shall be used. Coverage and application of primer shall be used according to manufacturer recommendations.
Primers shall be applied through brush/spray. Curing would be made by drying until 4 hours is attained prior
to the succeeding coat to be applied. After applying Primer, Wall Putty will be applied for the preparation of
surface and recommendations of manufactured shall be followed.
4.
Paint
Three coats of final paint would be applied as per the color approved. Paint shall be applied with rollers.
Notes.
For Each coat separate RFI (Request for Inspection) shall be submitted.
For working at height, fixed and movable scaffolding would be erected as per area requirements.
Scaffolding when erected shall be inspected with Safety officer prior to usage. Operatives will be
inductive before working at site. Pre-start meeting would be conducted before the start of painting
activities and tool box meeting would be regularly conducted by safety officer for all concern
operatives. Personal protective equipment shall be used by all the workers during paint working at a
height. HSE compliance shall be assured. Paint buckets shall not be retained for more than 3 hrs. in
open air.

Application
Berger Water Based Primer can be applied by
thinning (1:1) with water by volume for brush
application (depend on surface absorbency).
For better results apply two coats of Berger
Water Based Primer.
It is extremely essential to completely dry and free
the surface from grease, dirt and dust by using
sandpaper or scrapers before applying Berger NU
Putty. Berger NU Putty under normal conditions
surface dries within 2 hours and is ready for over
coating with finishing paint after 16 hours.
For thinning, mix equal volume of Berger NU
Emulsion and water. For porous surfaces additional
quantity of water may be necessary for the first coat
in order to satisfy surface porosity. All equipment and
brushes, etc. must always be cleaned with soap and
water immediately after use.
