Brochure
Description:

A folding brochure to promote a company service

Date:

12/5/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki

Program(s)/Tools:

Adobe photoshop/ Illustrator/ InDesign

Objectives:

Learn to set up and align a two-sided, folded document.

Process:

I began by quickly sketching out my ideas on paper and

then transferred it onto Adobe InDesign. My idea came from
a desire to redesign the business card and combine it with
a brochure. A brochure is to large to carry around and a
business card many times is not large enough. Beginning
with the inspiration of a business card I designed a square
as the back and circles to overlap it which became placeholders for pictures. Adobe Illustrator was great for creating
the logo and Photoshop was great for editing the pictures.
used. Ilustrator was great for creating the logo and InDesign
wasa great for creating the actual brochure.

Letterhead

Description:
Create a stationary that fits the personality of the company.
Date:
11/7/15
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign/ Illustrator
Objectives:
Create a stationary using a watermarked original logo
Process:

Using Adobe InDesign I created the logo and designed the letterhead and card. Finding inspiration from the office I was in at the time, I drew on paper a sketch of the
lamp on my desk. After making a 2D model of it in my mind I used the pen tool to
create a swirl for half of the lamp base. I also used the pen tool to make an outline of
the base so I could fill it with black thereby making the L in lamps.com. Making the
opacity low the watermark was created.

Business Card
Description:

Create a business card that matches the colors and design of

the letterhead

Date:
8/3/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Objectives:

Create a business card after the manner of the letterhead using

the same logos and typefaces

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Process:

Using the same logo as in the Letter Head I took away the opacity to the logo in Adobe InDesign. I used the same artistic touches in the card as I did in the letter head. I felt that making the
back simplistic was the best way of expressing this companys
overall business ideas.

Flier

Description:

Create a flier to announce a graduate leadership conference

Date:
8/3/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Objectives:
Making a professional looking flier using given text
and photographs
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Process:

I created four sketches to have a couple different visual ideas

to compare. Using these sketches I created a rough draft using
Adobe InDesign. I Used a large picture for the background and
3 large words over it to display the title and create a focal point.
A transparent rectangle overlapped the picture and part of the
white beneath it to create a visual contrast and flow. Using white
space to separate the body paragraphs I displayed the main
content on the left and the details on the right with the logo.

Montage
Description:

Use the combination of photographs and text to create a message

Date:

10/25/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Objectives:
Understand how to use blending of images.
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Process:

I began with the concept of a camera. Wanting it to be minalistic

I drew an outline and added the shutter. For this I used the pen
tool. For the font I wanted it to be unobtrusive. Grayscale worked
well and a monoschematic color scheme also worked well. This
logo is versatile

Logo

Description:
Create a logo for a fictional organization
Date:

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
Combine skills learned with Adobe Photoshop and
make a logo.
Process:
I used Adobe Illustrator to create a logo with color and
text of my own making. It was relatively easy once I began with the concept of a minimalistic camera outline
approach. My wife liked the logo with the black bg and
my professor liked the same logo with the shutter included. The shutters was a hard part to get because I
had to rotate each individual slice and if one took a moment they could easily see the spacing is not equal. For
the font I wanted something that was not fancy because
my idea for it is to be small and unobtrusive.

Event Ad
Description:

A color full-bleed event ad promoting a fundraiser for a fictional

zoo using only Microsoft Word and a scanner

Date:

10/11/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Objectives:
Make an ad promoting a business using only the
tools of MS Word.
Program(s)/Tools:
Microsoft Word Processor
Process:

After scanning in the monkey picture I used MS Word to fade the

edges of the image. Adding a green background with a cream
box for the details written in a brown hue gave the ad an overall
natural nature feeling. I used a horizontal bar at the bottom to
make a distinct separation of the ad and the beneficiary and its
url. There was much I could do with word but it was frustrating
and took me much longer than if I used Adobe InDesign.

Web Page
Description:

A web page to showcase a logo I designed and created

Date:

11/20/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Objectives:
Learn to code an internet page using CSS and
HTML5 well enough to display my work
Program(s)/Tools:
Coda 2 and Adobe Photoshop.
Process:

Beginning with a paid software, Coda, I created this webpage

with CSS and HTML. Creating the bullet points and different
headers was relatively simple. Modifying the <hr> tag was a bit
tricky so I stuck with making it the full length of the page. Having
a few months of coding I could see where the errors where and
quickly fixed them. Using photoshop to find the color in my logo
I made the border and most of the type the same. I didnt want
anything fancy for the font so the focus could remain on the logo.

Imaging
Description:

Using photography skills use the picture taken in a ad with the

same color shceme

Date:

10/17/15

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 13
Jason Stucki
Objectives:
Combine a recenlty taken picture and make an ad
from it. Use a color scheme of the picture.
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Process:

I used a Nikon camera to take the shot of our baby with the light
from only the sliding door window. The natural white light worked
well for her skin as she smiled back into the camera. I went for
a leading composition and I think it worked out well so I put it in
photoshop and added a few editing techniques: sharpness, saturation, color balance and levels. I added a few slanted rectangle
bars behind the picture which naturally fit well in the left of the
layout. For the colors I went with light colors that reminded me of
baby clothes.
