Brochure

Description:
A trifold brochure advertising a company.
Date:
December 5th, 2015
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Kory Kerr
Programs/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Set up and align a two sided document
Learn how to use paragraph styles in InDesign
Process:
I used InDesign to put it all together. I set up a
brochure fold line on the document so I knew
where to place the images and captions. I then
added text boxes, filled them in and added a line
around them. Pictures were place where needed
and then came the typography. I played around
with several different fonts and even downloaded
a few off the internet for the final product. All of
the titles I filled in with red and outlined in white.
I used the paragraph style format to make sure
all writing did not have any sort of hyphens and
looked clean and professional.

Logos

Description:
Logo for a clothing line.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01

Programs/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
Create three variations of an original logo to fit a
company.
Market research: gather opinions from at least ten
people about which logo appeals most to them.
Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw
logo
Process:
First, I looked at some logos to receive a feel for
my project. I sketched out about seven different
designs for logos. I went online to fontsquirrel.
com and downloaded a few different fonts as well
to help complete my designs. Using Illustrator,
I created three different logos. After receiving
critiques and votes, I took my personal favorite
(which was also the publics personal favorite as
well) and edited it in three different ways. I also,
applied some suggestions from my critique to the
initial design to help it look more appealing.

Black and White flier to publicize a meeting about
a leadership training conference.
Date:

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 01
Kory Kerr
Programs/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Apply design principles and rules of typography.
Show basic skills of InDesign
Process:
I was given the information, logo and a few
pictures to choose from to create the flier. First,
I drew some sketches to get an idea for the flier.
Afterwards, I used Adobe Photoshop to take out
the busy background of the picture I was using.
For the title, I bolded and enlarged the word I
wanted to pop out the most and catch attention.
Using different shades of boxes, I drew attention
to questions that would draw the person in. I
left white space and placed the text in a way the
person would glance at it back and forth across
the page like a zig zag.

the color scheme I selected before the photo,

Programs/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Learn to have a simple design
Create a logo by scratch
Process:
I created the logo by using Illustrator. I
basically created shapes with the shape tool
and overlapped them over each other. Opening
InDesign, I placed my logo upon the page. While
editing and figuring out how the page should look,
I had to fix the logo. Some of it needed an outline
or change the sizes of the different shapes to
accommodate to the stationery.
