Cleaner Production Application on Coconut Ice Mini Industry

Mini Industry coconut ice in the Bara street sell the product every day. The quantity
of coconut ice were sold on a daily depends on the height of the consumer. On
weekdays coconut ice successfully sold as many as 30 items while on holiday up to
50 grains. In the process of making coconut ice should be added sugar syrup and
iceberg as an additional composition . Sugar syrup is made of sugar that boiled on
the water using a gas stove . There are two waste generated from the mini coconut
ice industry :
1. Coconut fiber. This mini industry produce the coconut fiber as many as 70 kg
per a day. This fiber got from the 50 coconut. Waste processing of mini
industry coconut ice can be solved by making the fuel. In addition, coconut
fibers also used to be hawser ropes or making doormats.
2. Coconut shell. Coconut shell is produced as many as 20 kg. Coconut shells
can be processed into charcoal which used as fuel in the manufacture of
liquid sugar . Besides, coconut shell can be used as a container for serving
drinks. Other alternatives are a lot of crafts produced from coconut shells.
However, sales of coconut shells to the craftsmen preferred because it is
more efficient of cost and time .
There are several considerations in the processing of coconut waste :
1. Lack of resources for sewage treatment . It needs more resources for
processing the shells and fibers into fuels or crafts, because the process is
longer so need more power to handle it.
2. A lot more cost and time are required for processing. Costs incurred for
examples cost for processing equipments, cost of rent, and transportation
costs. The process need more time to cultivate the waste. It means it needs
more resources or extra employees.
