whatshouldbetheExternalpressurevaluetobe
entered.
Iprefer1.01325baraswhenthereexistsavacuum
insideavesselthenthepressureoutside
it(Atmosphericpressure)thruststhevesseltocrash
inside.

You'recorrectsayingthatfullvacuumis1.01325bar,
iftheoutsideofthevesselisincontactwithan
unpressurizedenviroment.Ifyouhaveavesselwith
doublewalls(sorry,can'trememberthecorrectterm),
thenthereisachangethepressureintheouterhullis
5bar,andthepressureinsidetheinnerisFV,sothe
calculatingpressureis6barexternal.

toapplyanexternalpressurethatistheequivalentof
theexternalpressuretheinternalpressure(0
bar(a)).
Avesselthatisplacedinanonconditionedspace,or
justoutside,willhavevaryingpressuresdueto
weatherchanges,checkthebarometerinyouroffice.
Insuchaconditionhowever1barexternalpressureis
appliedtothevesselforaFVcalculation.
YouhavetobecarefulwhendoingaFVcalculationfor
heatexchangertubesheetsorforjacketedvessels.
ThemostinnerpartcanhaveaFV,butthepartnext
toit(heatexchangerinternalforexample)canhave
10bar(g).
Insuchacaseyouhavetoapply11barasexternal
pressure.
PersonallyIthinkit'sbesttothinkintermsofinternal
andexternalpressures.Thatmakesismoreclearwhat
