“The Basic Beginnings”

Pastor Kerry Wilson

“The Basic Beginnings”
• Haggai 2.9 “ The glory of this latter house shall
be greater than of the former, saith the Lord
of hosts: and in this place will I give peace,
saith the Lord of hosts.”
• That seems to be a paradoxical statement for
those who have been around awhile. The last
days church is going to have two things which
seem to be elusive in our generation.
• Glory and Peace
The Basic Beginnings
• We are much like the post exilic church in the
rebuilding of the temple. Some of us are crying
over what was, some of us are cheering at a
glimpse, but as with all transitional generations
change is difficult.
• The book of Ezra (3) records the history of change
and renewal among God’s people. Some of the
people just couldn’t embrace that God could or
would do something greater than He had already
performed.
The Basic Beginnings
• Some were new second and third generation
believers who were confused, not having
revelation of their own as to the prophetic
nature of the church, the cycle of captivities
and God’s perfect positioning of people in
those generations. This generation sure didn’t
seem to have the glory and peace that
previous generations had enjoyed. A time
when God really showed up….
The Basic Beginnings
• They too, had a hard time imagining anything good
could come from the instability and loss of identity in
this generation. They lived for the here and now,
unable to see what transition and transformation are
really all about, and that is change.
• I too, wonder about our generation, I look around for
someone who I would qualify in my mind as someone
whose ducks are all in a row, who seems to have
consistency and maturity concerning the eternal plan
of God. I look in the mirror and assure myself it’s not
me, and then ask the question based on a survey of the
landscape and ask, who then? I reason this one and
that one based on my criteria, for you see…
The Basic Beginnings
• The same prophetic words are spoken over the church
of the last days. It will be greater than the former. We
continually measure ourselves from the book of Acts,
and an overview of our past never hurts, but try and
envision yourself in that same anointing and victory.
• We have suffered our captivities, and God only knows
we can find our way around this mountain that we
have encompassed so many times. I can walk
blindfolded around the liturgy, right words and ritual of
church life.
• In the area of prophetic gifting, weaponry, and
revelation to the church for this endeavor…
The Basic Beginnings
• There is not much left in the equipping arena, all
that remains is the filling of our hearts and hands
with the task. It will require the attitude of “we
are well able” based on the finished work of Jesus
Christ. The skeptics, scoffers and doubters reports
are in, the majority still sees no way possible, we
need more assurance, we need more
participation, more organization, more
marketing, more programming, but I speak this
word in and to you today, God works in the
minority who have and will put their “faith” in
Him.
The Basic Beginnings
• The words faith and belief or to believe in times past
were basically synonymous, but time and passivity
have changed this definition.
• Many movements, ideologies, creeds, theories, have
counted the program of God in Jesus defeated and
even dead but not so, there is an amazing awakening
and renewal based on the false hopes given by the
enemies of the eternal plan of God. We have and can
provide the message of Jesus throughout our worlds
and have witness of His miracle working power in our
lives.
The Basic Beginnings
• Faith is about a deep seated confidence in
Him who is well able.
• Belief has become more like an opinion, we
use it to express a certain degree of
uncertainty, terms like, “ I don’t really know
about that, but I believe it to be so”. Belief is
verbal, faith is action, faith is defined as vital
for the way we live. We act existentially on
faith, propositionally on belief.
The Basic Beginnings
• Beliefs originated in being written to establish
differences of denomination, or choices in the
religious world.
• Faith acts upon the eternal word of God, faith
has action and resolve behind it. Faith puts
God in position to show His glory. Belief gives
a way out if we were wrong. Faith is in a
person, not a belief in an idealogy.
The Basic Beginnings
• Belief has it’s origin in tenets written about Jesus, Faith
puts all in Jesus. Belief is that God had something good
for Abraham and a place for him, Faith is that he got up
and left not knowing where he was going….
• Belief has opened the door for reason, or how we
justify what we believe. Faith opens the door for “
though he slay me, yet will I trust in Him” Belief says, I
think I can get out of the boat and not drown, I think I
can walk on the water, Faith gets out of the boat.
• Belief puts the outcome in a man and his hands, Faith
puts the outcome in the hands of God…..
The Basic Beginnings
• There have been three marked operational
overtones in regard to the church. These have
all been impacted by prophecy and have not
been sequential in years.
• We are getting ready to move into the next
stage of this eternal plan of God, and one of
the final stages.
The Basic Beginnings
• The Words of Jesus

• “Sola Scriptura”

• The Age of the Spirit

The Basic Beginning
• The Words of Jesus
• Chose a few men, gave them the message,
lived with them, taught them how, gave them
the origin of authority and then commissioned
them.
• Jesus experientially lived a life by yielding to
the Spirit. Why, to prove that we can…
• Spiritual, communal and social needs were
addresssed
