Dangers of Soulish Life: Part 2

We have seen how God’s work in our 
lives involves DELIVERANCE AND 
DEVELOPMENT
• In this section of the book we see how 
soul‐power interferes with God’s work 
as we depend on natural(soul) power 
instead of God’s power.
• Three dangers of being soulish:
• 1. Spirit being suppressed 
– God executes His will as believers 
cooperate in and through their spirit 
moving with His Spirit
– As you cooperate you acquire power and 
guidance in your spirit for WARFARE and 
WORSHIP
– Satan’s goal is to DISABLE you through 
depriving you of spiritual sensitivity  
through soulishness
2. Retreating into the body realm
One needs to understand in the spiritual 
realm there is no standing still, no just 
maintaining
• If you do not keep pressing forward in 
your walk, whatever has been DONE in us 
can be quickly UNDONE if we fail to allow 
the cross to work deeply.
• 3. The power of darkness taking 
advantage.
• There is a definite place where you cross 
over from being simply soulish into 
satanic activity
• James 3:13‐15
• James 3:13‐16 Do you want to be counted wise, 
to build a reputation for wisdom? Here's what 
you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It's the 
way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. 
Mean‐spirited ambition isn't wisdom. Boasting 
that you are wise isn't wisdom. Twisting the truth 
to make yourselves sound wise isn't wisdom. It's 
the furthest thing from wisdom—it's animal 
cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever you're 
trying to look better than others or get the better 
of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up 
at the others' throats.
• We are aware that satan entices us to 
sin through man’s flesh… ‘satans
food…’
• Gen 3: 14  “…And you shall eat dust…”
• Gen 3: 19  “… For dust you are…”
• Do you realize satan can inject 
thoughts into your mind
• If we as believers were understanding of 
satan’s wiles(strategies) as they come 
against our souls,, and we consistently 
yielded our spirit up to the Holy Spirit in 
casting down imaginations and thoughts 
that are contrary to Christ we would take 
away ALL ground from which satan 
operates and render him completely 
powerless against us and the church!
• We all have areas of our lives that we 
are needing to bring into conformity to 
Christ 1 Jn.1:8  If we say that we have 
no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the 
truth is not in us.
• It is interesting that  John uses sin in 
relation to darkness extensively in his 
book:  1 John 1:5‐9
• “ This is the message which we have heard from 
Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him 
is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have 
fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie 
and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the 
light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with 
one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son 
cleanses us from all sin. 
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive 
ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess 
our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins 
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
• Jude 6 And the angels who did not keep 
their proper domain, but left their own 
abode, He has reserved in everlasting 
chains under darkness for the judgment 
of the great day;
• Col. 1:13; Ep. 5:8;  Acts 26:18; Mt. 4:16‐17
• THE DEVIL TRAFICS IN DARKNESS! The 
only way he can gain access into your life 
is through and area darkness in your life
• Ro. 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that 
now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for 
now our salvation is nearer than when we first
believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is 
at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of 
darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 
13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in 
revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and 
lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the 
Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for 
the flesh, to fulfill its lusts
