Echoes of the enchanting voices
of the Libera boys choir from London
linger after their stirring performance
at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and
Casino two weeks ago.
In their flowing, white robes,
the 22-member vocal band looked
ethereal. Their solemn songs brought
to mind angel voices and visions of
heaven. It was a moving experience
listening to them. And yes, the Libera
version of Bayan Ko was a big hit!
By the way, Libera means freedom
in Italian and the group is so named
because it is the title of their signature
song. Libera is well-known in all parts
of the globe because of concert tours
and TV appearances. Their albums are
best-sellers. Music director/conductor
is Robert Prizeman.
Credit for bringing the group to
Cebu goes to the Arts Council of
Cebu Foundation Inc. who coor-
dinated with former Secretary of
Finance and chair of the British Alumni
Roberto F. de Ocampo, the man re-
sponsible for inviting the group to our
country. While in our shores, Libera’s
official residence was Shangri-La’s
Mactan Resort & Spa where the boys

had the time of their lives enjoying the
sun and the sea. Resort GM Joachim
Schutte also hosted a presscon and an
exclusive performance at the Ocean
Pavillion during their three-day stay.

Tomorrow, Shangri-la’s Mactan
Resort & Spa lights up its Christmas
tree at the resort lobby and then of-
ficially opens its Christmas Shopping
Village at 6 p.m.
