Hot stamping technique for quenchable steel involves heating the metal sheet until complete
austenitization (900C to 950C, in 4 to 10 minutes duration). The hot sheet is transferred to a
press machine and immediately stamped in order to take advantage of the excellent formability at
high temperature (600C to 800C). The press machine tool is held closed for 20 seconds for
quenching the sheet below the martensite finish temperature.
