B. Case Background
XXXX expressed that some things in the past have been bothering her. It
seems that something in her past caused her to feel hatred to a certain person/s. These
thoughts had been disturbing her for so long. She wanted to get rid of these thoughts
and memories.
The issue began since XXXs father was just courting her mother, her
mothers family side was not confident that they can be sustained by their father. But
amidst the problems, the marriage was successful and the couple was blessed with two
kids. When the kids (XXX and her younger sister) are growing, his father tried his luck
and worked overseas. However, their relatives did not appreciate the efforts made by
her father; instead they would always throw sarcastic remarks against him. After seven
years, her parents took turns, her father went home and her mother worked abroad.
Things became worse because their relatives would already result into hurting her and
her sibling. As children, they have experienced verbal abuse and corporal punishments.
From those experiences, she developed hatred until she reached her present age.
However, the context of her hatred is traumatic because, according to her story,
she would always get away with things that would remind her of the events (symptoms
of avoidance), there were flash backs haunting her almost every night (recurrent
thoughts) and re-experiencing of what had happened every time she would encounter
objects or things which she can associate or attribute with her painful experiences.
II. Assessment
A. Assessment Methods and Procedures
1. Hopkins Symptoms Checklist
CONFIDENTIAL
2. Draw a Person Test
3. Interview
4. Behavioral Observation
B. Summary of Results and Findings
1. Behavioral Observations
During the first meeting, XXX seems to be alright. She has not shown yet any
signs and symptoms that she has a problem at all. However, when she began speaking
and sharing her experiences, she became emotional that her eyes were close to crying
but she tried to prevent it. She manifested signs of avoiding to recall her negative
experiences, and whenever she saw things associated to those events, she cant help
but feel bad and recall again those bitter memories. Thus, negative thoughts reinforce
the symptoms.
2. Test Results
CONFIDENTIAL
Generally, the Hopkins results, the DAPT analysis, and initial interview supports each
others as it gave a common psychological impression to Diane that she has been suffering from
the symptoms of trauma for a long time.
IV. Recommendations
Based on the results of psychological assessment, the following are to be worked out to
help Diane:
1. Her perception, understanding, feelings and thoughts towards her experience are needed
to be normalized. It is recommended that she undergo CISD.
2. To reinforce the relaxing effect of CISD, TFT is best to be utilized. This is also to lessen
her negative stress.
3. Journal Writing would also be helpful in checking the quality of her thoughts.
4. Continuous follow-ups must also be included until such time that she were able to feel
that it was already done, and what she feels is normal and that she needs to move on.
