using a single set of values for speeds and power settings for takeoff. If
the following conditions are met, the simplified procedures may be used.

takeoff
Determine takeoff field length, V1, VR, V2, and VENR and correct for runway
gradient, anti-icing and APR requirements.
If the required distance is greater than the available distance, the airplane
weight must be reduced until distance required is less than or equal to
distance available.

DEFINITIONS
Runway Contaminated by Compacted Snow:
A runway is considered contaminated by compacted snow when
covered by snow which has been compressed into a solid mass
which resists further compression and will hold together or break
into lumps if picked up.
Runway Contaminated by Standing Water, Slush or Loose Snow:
A runway is considered contaminated when more than 25% of the
runway surface area (whether in isolated areas or not) within the
required length and width being used, is covered by surface water
more than 3 millimeters (0.125 inch) deep, or by slush, or loose snow,
equivalent to more than 3 millimeters (0.125 inch) of water.
Runway Contaminated by Wet Ice:
A runway surface condition where braking action is expected to
be very low, due to the presence of wet ice.
Wet Runway:
A runway is considered wet when there is sufficient moisture on
the surface to appear reflective, but without significant areas of
standing water.

Flight Planning
Note:
Cockpit masks are assumed to be at the normal setting up to 20,000 ft
with a respiratory rate of 10 liters per minute - body temperature saturated. Above 20,000 ft, the masks are assumed to be at the 100% setting.
Passenger oxygen masks are approved for operation at cabin
altitude of 25,000 ft and below.
Flight Planning
The following two graphs provide information for dispatch with less than
a full oxygen bottle. (Unless otherwise noted) the following assumptions
apply to this figure and are factored into available time calculations:
Oxygen consumed during a 10 minute emergency descent from FL510 to
10,000 ft MSL. This defines the starting point of each bottle pressure vs.
available time plot.
After the emergency descent, the cabin altitude for the remainder of the
flight is between FL250 and 10,000 ft MSL.
All Pilot and Copilot oxygen requirements are included. Crew consumption rate is 20 LPM (liters/minute) during the emergency descent and
10 LPM thereafter.
Cockpit masks are at 100% setting regardless of cabin altitude.
Normal pilot usage as required by operating rules when operating above
FL350 is not taken into account.

DITCHING
Ditching is not approved under FAR 25.801 and was not conducted
during certification testing of the airplane. Should ditching be required,
the following procedures are recommended:
PRELIMINARY
1. Radio MAYDAY (Identify airplane, position, heading, altitude and
ISA)
2. Transponder 7700
3. Locator Beacon EMER
4. Environmental Control Unit Package Switches and ENG BLD AIR
Switches OFF (Prevents water from entering through bleed
valves)
5. Passenger Advisory Switch PASS SAFE (Check aft facing seats
full aft and all seats upright and outboard)
6. Water Barrier IN POSITION (IF REQUIRED)
Caution: The water barrier must be in position prior to opening the
cabin door if this exit is selected as an egress route.
7. P
assenger Life Jackets ON (Life jackets should not be inflated
until outside airplane)
APPROACH
1. Gear UP
2. Flaps FULL DOWN
3. Speed VREF
4. Rate-of-Descent 200 to 300 FT PER MINUTE
5. Plan approach to parallel any uniform swell pattern and attempt to
touch down along a wave crest or just behind it. If the surface wind
is very strong or the surface rough and irregular, ditch into the
wind on the back side of a wave.
WATER CONTACT
1. Airplane Pitch Attitude Slightly higher than normal landing
attitude
2. Reduce airspeed and rate-of-descent to a minimum but do not stall
the airplane
3. Throttles CUTOFF just prior to water contact and contact water
on a crest of a swell, parallel to the major swell
AFTER WATER CONTACT
Under reasonable ditching conditions, the airplane should remain afloat
an adequate amount of time to launch and board life rafts in an orderly
manner.
The main cabin door should remain closed and evacuation made
through the emergency exit.
Note: If a water barrier is aboard, it will allow use of the cabin door
as an additional egress route. The water barrier must be in
position for ditching if there are more than 9 passengers
aboard, and must be installed before the door is opened.
