To add the procedure for High Frequency Eddy Current inspection in the frame of Widespread
Fatigue Damage requirements
To update the accomplishment timescale.
A330 SB revision No. 02 will be issued before 29 FEB 2016 to introduce same changes

This inspection program has been rendered mandatory by the Airworthiness Authorities and must be
accomplished at the latest before the AD compliance timeframe for aircraft under EASA Regulation.
EASA Airworthiness Directive No 2015-0192 issued on 21 SEP 2015 (effective date 05 OCT 2015).

1. Retrofit purpose
Several cases of loose, missing or sheared rivets and other cases of cracks have been detected on the FWD
and AFT cargo door frame forks areas (beam No. 4) as well as in the frame heads areas (beam No.1).
AIRBUS SB A330-52-3087, A330-52-3095, A340-52-4095, A340-52-4101, A340-52-5020 and A340-52-5023
introduce a repetitive detailed inspection of the affected areas.
These SB also provide repair instructions to be applied to the cargo door frame forks or frame heads or to
the cargo door skin in the event of findings resulting from the inspections. Accomplishment of these SB will
continue to maintain the structural integrity of the FWD and AFT Cargo Doors.

2. Retrofit organization
CAUTION: due to significant number of man-hours in case of findings during inspection, work is expected to
be performed as possible during heavy grounding opportunities.
Aircraft will be inspected by the Operator or its MRO. In case of findings, repair must be performed before
next flight using AIRBUS tool as per subject SB recommendation.

1) AIRBUS requests the Operator to return the RIL Appendix completed with aircraft details and
Operators contact for the embodiment planning.
2) Operator is requested to:
Perform a check of the cargo door hook gaps (only at first inspection) and adjust if
necessary.
Perform a detailed inspection and High Frequency Eddy Current (HFEC) inspection of the
cargo door frame fork areas.
Perform a detailed inspection of the cargo door frame head areas.
No specific material is needed to complete these steps. If no findings, please go to step 4) until
next inspection.
3) In case of findings during the visual detailed inspection, Operator is requested to do a special
detailed inspection of the cargo compartment door frame fork and frame head areas. The
relevant repair will have to be applied depending on the inspection results.
The operator will place Purchase and Loan Orders to the relevant suppliers for the material and
tools to be ordered.
4) After the accomplishment of the inspection on impacted aircraft, AIRBUS requests the Operator
to :
Activate the usual reporting method through AirbusWorld
Send inspection report sheets to structure.sbinspectionresult@airbus.com.

3. Retrofit program
The SB associated with this retrofit program are MANDATORY and must be accomplished before the AD
compliance timeframe.
The impacted aircraft have to implement this retrofit program by 31-MAR-2017. AIRBUS Retrofit Department
will support the Operators up to this date as per below conditions.

FTIP policy under Service Life Policy conditions. Please refer to
the FTIP policy for further information.

Standard FTI expendable tool: Will be reimbursed upon


receipt of a warranty claim.
Standard FTI durable tool: Will be reimbursed upon receipt of
a warranty claim.
Standard FTI capital tool: Will remain at operators expense.
AIRBUS special tools: The special AIRBUS tool kits for repair
will be covered by a Free Of Charge Loan Order of 15 days.
Tool kits will only be provided in case of confirmed finding and
after receipt of damage / finding report on affected aircraft.

AIRBUS Retrofit Department is responsible for the overall retrofit organization.
Please contact: monitored.retrofit@airbus.com
For Operators with components under Flight Hour Services (FHS) or Tailored Support Package (TSP)
contract, operational requirements and technical coordination will be ensured by the FHS or TSP Delivery
manager.

4. Retrofit material to be ordered

In case of findings during the inspections and depending on the inspection results, the following
materials are required:
A. Hardware:

Standard parts (quantity and parts depending on the findings):


The required standard parts shall be procured from source by the operator or, alternatively
from any other source on the open market.
Note:
Procurement issue affecting fastener ASNA2657 was reported to AIRBUS. An alternative
has been identified, and its installation is covered by a permanent Technical Adaptation (TA)
for SB A330-52-3095/-4101/-5020/-5023 accomplishment.
The use of HST11 series fasteners instead of ASNA2657 fasteners for accomplishment of
the referenced SB is approved by AIRBUS and covered by a permanent TA, which can be
found in In-Service Information (ISI) article 52.30.00027.

B. Tooling

Standard tools:
FTI standard tools are required to perform the inspection. Please be advised that a
significant lead-time can be applied to FTI tools ordering. Therefore, AIRBUS kindly
recommends operator to order FTI tools as soon as embodiment planning is defined.
For the definition of capital, durable and expendable tool kits, please refer to ISI
51.48.00001.

Note (1):
The durable tool kit contains the minimum quantity of durable tools necessary to accomplish a SB on
one aircraft. If the SB is to be accomplished on more than one aircraft, the number of durable kits
required can be established by reference to ISI 51.48.00001.
Note (2):
Please note that regarding the capital tool kits, the composition of the six kit Part Numbers is the
same. The capital tool provided in a kit is not specific to a SB and is normally already available in
operators stock as a long-term investment or can be loaned from FATIGUE TECHNOLOGY INC.
