Objective of our Invention:
-Making sorting coins more convenient, and fun to watch at the same time, also saving a lot of time
compared to sorting them one by one.
Note: It can only work on Singapore Coins.
Source for Inspiration:
-We were on a taxi, and when we reached our destination and were paying the taxi driver, we realised that he
had a lot of problem getting the right coin in the box full of coins.
-Another time was when we went to the school canteen to order some drinks. When we paid her, the shop
auntie had to sort the different coins into different containers.
Target Audience
-Mainly, people who handle a lot amount of coins , for example:
-Hawkers
-Taxi Drivers
-Piggy bank owners
Disadvantages of other coin sorters
Automatic Coin Sorter Counter (Golden-350)
-Consumes electricity
-Very big and bulky (3.5kg)
-Produces very noisy grating motor noise
-May jam occasionally
-Very expensive as it is digital
Nadex Coin Sorter
-Exposed, thus the coins might drop out
-Very bulky, huge in size
-Coins might get stuck easily
-Not steady, may topple
-Very expensive as well (Cost $99)
-Can snap easily
71.12 cm in height, and 15.24 cm in breadth
CS200 Manual Coin Sorter
-Works manually, very troublesome
-Coins might over lap and get stuck
-Very hard to take out coins
-Big and bulky
Our prototype design
Diagram of our prototype
Funnel Design
-Foldable, thus compact
-Concept of the straw expandable tube
-Top part of the funnel is foldable as well, folded downwards
-Tube in the funnel is narrow, only allowing one coin to enter at a time
Tube Design
-U-Shaped
-Any other design will not do (like V-shaped), as the coins will lean to one side.
-Has holes at bottom
-Tilted at an 30 degrees angle
-Coin across past holes, falling in when the hole is the right size
-Holes from smallest to biggest
Measurements scale Design

-Has labels at its side, indicating the amount in each row

-Coins will be neatly stacked up in a row
-Easy to know amount of money
Advantages of our Invention
-The compartment can be easily removed from the main structure, if you bring it around.
-It is also small, so that you can bring it wherever you want to go.
(It is about 20cm x 8cm)
