"Magbola, Wag Magdroga is an advocacy of JTV with

a primordial objective of encouraging people especially the youth
to make a hook in basketball instead of getting hooked with
illegal drugs. He is the brainchild of this program which he
founded when he was still a Barangay Kagawad (Councilor) in
1994. The youth of this barangay is very active in sports
particularly in basketball. The major importance of this program
initiated by this organization is for the drug abuse prevention in
the community.
Goals and Objectives:
*To focus youth to be active in sports, not in the use of illegal
drugs.
*To initiate the youth to be physically fit and health wise as
well.
*To promote friendship and develop sportsmanship within
each member of the youth in the barangay.
The formation and functioning of this organization can be related to the different
phases of community organizing. For the preparatory phase, the proprietor of the
organization, JTV, plans to form a program where it can help in terms of battling
the issue of illegal drugs usage in the community. Critical thinking led JTV to use
basketball because it is a common interest of everyone in the community, which
can be related to the organizational phase of community organizing. After the
planning of the activity, the organization "TROPANG JTV" was formed that
initiated the start of education and training phase for the participants of the

program. During the program, intersectoral collaboration phase took place when
different basketball teams from different barangays collaborated with the project
by joining the basketball league.

Current activities of the organization includes annual opening of

"Liga" where numerous number of basketball teams from different
barangays participates. Every summer, this basketball league
implements intercolor, interbarangay, and different division forms
based on their age and height. Solicitation in each barangay
within the district level up to the city of manila officials is done for
the equipments to be needed for the program.
This program initiated by the management of barangay 438, led
by Brgy, Chairman Joel T. Villanueva, made a great impact on the
community where it belongs. According to the basketball team
ALGEBAR, one of the regular participant of the project, the "LIGA"
held every year played a great role in their lives. They have
formed a strong bond within their group, and made friendship
with their fellow basketball players.
This program of the organization has been running for many
years, and it has been very successful. Just recently they have
posted a new slogan for their organization that says, "MAGBOLA
NEVER STOPS", the success of the organization set inspiration for
everyone in the community and they have no intention of ever
stopping the project of the organization.
