Hydraulic Actuator based Mechanical braking System for Automobile

A hydraulic brake incorporates a master piston in the lever, a hydraulic brake line, opposing
slave pistons in the cylinder, and hydraulic fluid (brake fluid or mineral oil). In a hydraulic brake
system, braking is accomplished by the squeezing the lever, which pushes the master piston
inside the lever body and forces fluid into the brake hose. The fluid then moves into the cylinder
and presses against the slave pistons. Brake pads are attached to the slave pistons so that when
the fluid presses against the pistons, the brake pads clamp onto the rotor. Once the pads contact
the rotor, additional force at the lever pressurizes the system and creates greater clamping force
on the rotor. There are several factors at work when using a hydraulic brake. The amount of lever
squeeze combined with the leverage in the brake lever and in the hydraulic system creates a
clamping force at the cylinder. That clamping force combined with the brake pad material
produces friction at the rotor. The amount of friction combined with the diameter of the rotor
generates braking power. Braking power, along with the duration of braking, determines how
quickly speed is reduced as well as the amount of heat generated.

Design & Development of Wired/ Wireless Air Rider Hovercraft Prototype

Hovercraft is multipurpose vehicles which can travel across various types of terrain with no
alteration. The overall purpose for this design project is to build a hovercraft which can carry
various payloads across land and water. Hovercrafts work on the two main principles of lift and
propulsion. The main aim of design this air cushioned vehicle can be used for numerous different
application including military, aid, transportation of building supplies, etc. The main component
used in this project is propellers, switch pad, battery and a hovercraft body. The propeller is used
to lift the craft by cushion of air when it travels on the water with the help of switch pad.
Steering is achieved by mounting behind the thrust propeller. There are also two propeller
connected at the back edges to move the hover forward, backward ,left and right. The direction
of hover is controlled by ON OFF the propeller connected at the back end. The battery is used to
provide the power to the propellers.

Energy Efficient Regenerative Braking System for charging the vehicle batteries

The main aim of this project is to design an energy regenerative system, occurs when the vehicle is in
motion, such as coasting, traveling downhill or braking. And the accelerator pedal is not being depressed.
During brake the motor becomes a generator and sends energy back to the batteries. The main
components used in this project are motor, tyre, belt, leds, power supply and the mechanical modal for
braking system. In this project the motor is used for rotating the tyre which is powered by the power
supply. The motor and leds are connected to the braking system, when the brake is applied to the tyre then
motor connected to the braking system starts rotating for a few minutes before the wheel came to the stop
condition. With the rotation of motor electricity is generated which can be stored in a battery, is indicating
by the leds connected to the motor.

Electromagnetic Wheel Braking System for Vehicles

The main aim of this project is to design a braking mechanism using the magnetic system. The main
components used in this project are electromagnet, tyre, motor, belt, switch, power supply and regulator
to control the motor speed. The motor is used to rotate the tyre through belt whose speed is controlled by
the regulator. This project is based on the magnetic theory .when the switch is ON the magnetic field is
generated which introduce the break by a brake shoe connected to the electromagnet. The brake shoe
connected to electromagnet stops the rotating tyre and come back to its initial position when magnetic
field is removed with the help of spring connected to brake shoe. The power supply is used to power the
motor and generating the magnetic field.

Pneumatic Actuator movement control Based Electro-Mechanical Vehicle Wheel


Braking System

The main aim of this project is to design a braking mechanism with the help of pneumatic system
.The main component used in this project are pneumatic pump, solenoid valve, power supply,
tyre , belt, Brake shoe ,motor and regulator to control the speed of the motor. When the motor is
started through regulator it rotates the tyre, and brake is applied through pneumatic pump. When
the paddle of pneumatic pump is pressed it force the brake shoe to connected to the tyre which
oppose the tyre rotation and forced to the stop the tyre. The brake shoe comes back to initial
location by releasing the air pressure through solenoid valve which is powered by the power
supply section

Mechatronics based Vehicle Speed Detection & Automated Gear Shifting Drive
Control System

The main goal of this project is to design an electronic gear shift system. The main components
used in this project are electronic clutch, tire, chain, switches, motor and power supply. The
motor is connected to the tire through a shaft and chain. The clutches are fitted on the shaft.
Clutch is the main part of this project which can be controlled through switches. The motor can
rotate the tire with the help of shaft, whose speed is controlled through the electronic clutches.
When the smallest clutch is turned ON through switches the tire rotates slowly, when gear is
changed through smallest to largest clutch the speed will be increased. When the entire clutch
will be OFF the tire came to in stop condition. The power supply is used to power the electronic
clutch and motor.

system is used to lift the heavy body with a fewer efforts. The main components used in this
project are air cylinder, foot pump, solenoid valve and power supply. The pump is connected to
the air cylinder through a pipe. When the pump paddle is pressed it starts filling the air in the air
cylinder. As the air in the air pump starts filling it can lift the heavy body placed on it. The
solenoid valve connected to the air cylinder to release the air pressure. The solenoid valve is
powered ON/OFF through the switch. The power supply section is used to power the solenoid
valve.

Hybrid Design of Hydraulic and Pneumatic Lift for Up-lifting load Mechanism

The main goal of this project is to design a lifting mechanism through a combination of hydraulic
and pneumatic system. This system is used to lift the heavy body with a fewer efforts. The main
components used in this project are hydraulic cylinder, air cylinder, foot pump, solenoid valve
and power supply. The pump is connected to the air cylinder through a pipe. And the air pump is
further connected to hydraulic cylinder. The wooden plate fitted with hydraulic cylinder on
which lifted body is placed. When the pump paddle is pressed it starts filling the air in the air
cylinder. These air cylinder further starts filling the fluid into the hydraulic cylinder. As the fluid
in the hydraulic pump starts filling it can lift the heavy body placed on it. The solenoid valve
connected to the air cylinder to release the air pressure. The solenoid valve is powered ON/OFF
through the switch. When the power of the solenoid valve will be ON by pressing the switch then
air pressure releases though solenoid valve and lift come back to initial position. The power
supply section is used to power the solenoid valve.

Remote Controlled Four Wheels Directional Synchronizer Steering System

Four wheel Steering is a method developed in automobile industry for the effective turning of the
vehicle and to increase the manuverbility. In a typical front wheel steering system the rear
wheels do not turn in the direction of the curve and thus curb on the efficiency of the steering. In
four wheel steering the rear wheels turn with the front wheels thus increasing the efficiency of
the vehicle. The direction of steering the rear wheels relative to the front wheels depends on the
operating conditions. At low speed wheel movement is pronounced, so that rear wheels are
steered in the opposite direction to that of front wheels. At high speed, when steering
adjustments are subtle, the front wheels and the rear wheels turn in the same direction. By
changing the direction of the rear wheels there is reduction in turning radius of the vehicle which
is efficient in parking, low speed cornering and high speed lane change.

must. The main components used in this project are Crank, piston and metallic body consisting
of barring and handle for manual operation. In this project a crushing can is placed in the u
shaped drum. The handle is connected to the piston through crank. When the human rotate the
handle the crank forcefully moves the piston towards the drum and, the piston strike onto the can
with large force which crushes the can.

Computer Numeric Controlled Gantry Robot Mechanism for three Directional Tool
Movement(Drill Machine, Welding Set etc)

This project is designed with base rotation and wrist motion with a functional gripper to hold
objects. This project includes a controller which is used to drive the motor according to the
inputs. The gear motor is used to control the robot. The keypad interfaced with the controller
used to give input for the movement of the arm along the axis. The mechanical system is used to
move the arm to different direction or axis. The three gear motors is used to move the robot
along X axis, Y axis and Z axis. The one another gear motor is used to grab the object. The user
can give the input through the keypad to control the gear motor according to the movement .The
gear motor can be move forward and reverse ,according to the keypad key dedicated to it for
each axis movement .For gear motor direction control a motor driver Toggle Switches will be
used. As any key is pressed the gear motor will move along a particular axis. To pick, a plastic

Autonomous Motor Controlled Stair Climbing Robot Mechanism

This Robot will climb along the stairs after being guided by some rigid mechanical structure.. To
implement this by using a motor equipped mechanical frame will be used which will provide the
robot with the desired torque to move along the stairs. The motors to be used are the DC gear
motors which are mounted with gears inside which make it a better alternative to the simple DC
motors. Gear motor is a motor that has a gear reduction system or the gearbox integrally built
into the motor. The gearbox increases the torque generating ability of the motor while
simultaneously reducing its output speed. The main advantage of a gear motor is that the driving
shaft may be coupled directly to the driven shaft. Belts, pulleys, chains, or additional gearing to
step down motor speed are needed. Also, coupling or belting of a motor to a separate speedreducer unit is eliminated.

Mechanical Design of a Wired or Wireless Controlled hexapod or Six Legged Robot

The main of this project is to design a six legged robot. The six-legged walker/hexapod is very stable. A
designer can design a gait that can take three legs off the floor at any one time leaving a stable tripod. A
hexapod is very good for complex terrain, and along with quadrupeds, it is the most common legged form

Auto Size Adjustable Pipe Inspection Robot with Video Monitoring and Jaw
Control System using Microcontroller

An in-pipe robot with active pipe-diameter adaptability and automatic force adjusting is
developed for long-distance inspection of main gas pipelines with different diameter series. Its
physical design employs the scheme that three sets of parallelogram wheeled leg mechanism are
circumferentially spaced out 120 apart symmetrically. This structural design makes it possible
to realize the adaptation to pipe diameter and attractive force adjusting together. On the basis of
analyzing the mechanical actions of the adaptation to pipe diameter and tractive force adjusting,
the related mechanical models are established, and their control system structure and control
strategy are discussed. In Our Project The Pipe inspecting robot will also be having the robotic
arm at its front end to pick and place the objects. The motion of the robot and the arm will be

Hydraulic Actuators based Robotic Arm & movement control Mechanism

The aim of this project is to design a hydraulic arm, which is used for pick and place the object.
The main components used in this project are hydraulic cylinders with piston, pipes and a
mechanical model of the arm. In this project two hydraulic cylinders used for each movement.
These two cylinders connected through pipe. When the pressure is applied onto the piston of one
hydraulic cylinder it starts filling fluid into the second cylinder with pressure, and the second
cylinder piston connected to the arm which moves the arm. For every movement a combination

The main working of this project is to convert the fluid flow energy or water flow energy into
electricity. The main components used in this project are dynamo mechanical modal of pelton
turbine and leds for indicating the electricity generation. The turbine converts the fluid flow
energy into rotational mechanical energy. In this project when a fluid or water fall on the turbine
with high pressure the turbine starts rotating, this rotates the dynamo connected to the turbine
through shaft. The dynamo converts this rotational motion into the electricity. The electricity
generated by dynamo can be stored, which is indicated by leds. With the generation of the
electricity the leds starts glowing. The rate of generation of electricity depends on the speed or

wasted at the speed breakers through friction, every time a vehicle passes over it. So electricity

Automated Motorized Shaping Tool using Whitworth quick return mechanism.

The implementation of a Whitworth Quick Return Mechanism can be useful for applications
requiring slow initial force and a quick reset operation. The design of such a Whitworth Quick
Return Mechanism can be tedious to do by hand. High-end commercial computer applications
are available that can help in designing a Whitworth Quick Return Mechanism but these
applications are usually large and come with other pack-ages that are not essential to the
specied task. These commercial applications are also expensive for the general user. The
Whitworth quick return mechanism converts rotary motion into reciprocating motion, but unlike
the crank and slider, the forward reciprocating motion is slower rate than the return stroke. This
is why it is called quick return mechanism.
