Lead Foundation conducted one day training session for the

female teachers of Dar-e-Arqam School Rajana (near Toba Tek

Singh) on Oct. 17, 2015. The training was conducted there for the
reason that the teachers living in the distant and academically
less developed areas (like Toba Tek Singh and Rajana) are in dire
need of such activities. The professionally congested environment
of those areas doesnt allow them to avail themselves of such
opportunities in big cities; hence they only wait earnestly for such
opportunities to happen! LEAD foundation, cognizant of this
situation and their needs has stepped forward to train the
teachers of such areas and Rajana was its first step.
Mr Moazam Hashmi, Mr. Furrakh Abbas, and Mr Azhar Munir
Bhatti were the resource persons. The training covered the
following topics: Incorporating Blooms Taxonomy in
Classroom, Group and Team Work Management, and
Developing Critical Thinking Skills in the Learners.
The participants of the workshop were amazed to realize
that the school teaching work can be made much better by
incorporating modern, innovative concepts and techniques in
teaching. They enthusiastically participated in the activities
conducted during the sessions. They were very positive that these
types of trainings are the soul of teaching profession.
Professional training in far flung areas is almost unheard-ofthing. It is believed that this training has had their teaching spirit
revitalised. It is further hoped that their current teaching practices
be improved as they have taken their first step towards
innovating their teaching practices.
Mr. Moazzam Hashmi gave them the knowledge of
Incorporating Blooms Taxonomy in the Classroom, and told
them how this concept can augment the learning of their
students. In first half of the session, theoretical conceptualization
was divulged upon the teachers and in last half, activities were

conducted to turn the concept into practice. For their better

understanding, all the activities were conducted using the text
books which were being taught by those teachers, so that they
must be familiarized with the teaching material in hand in a new
outlook.
Mr. Azhar Munir Bhatti conducted the second session Group
and Team Work Management. In this session, teachers were
introduced with the nitty-gritty of group work and the process of
forming groups in a class room. After this the presenter helped
them to complete an activity under control environment and
when the teachers felt at par with the activity designing and
culmination process plus group forming, they were asked to do
another activity at their own. After this session, teachers reflected
their experience to learn through groups and teams. They felt that
group learning is much better than individual lecturing.
Mr. Furrakh Abbas highlighted the importance of critical
thinking and teaching the students to think critically in his session
Critical and Analytical Thinking Skill. People are normally
habitual to think in a linear manner, while solving a problem but
definitely there are other possibilities. Edward De Bono has given
the concept of lateral thinking which is publicly known as thinking
out of the box. How to cater this concept in solving classroom
problems, regarding teaching, discipline, and behaviour
management of the students was imparted in this session.
Teachers felt relaxed after this session as they have ultimately
found some other possible ways to counter different untoward
classroom situations.
