Overview
IDE Connector Customizer enables you to perform customizations
necessary for working with HP ALI Dev. Customizations include field
mappings between HP Application Lifecycle Management projects and the
IDE.

Whats New in Version 11.50

Previously available for download from the ALM Add-ins site, IDE
Connector Customizer is now an integrated part of the ALM installation.

Prerequisites for IDE Connector Customizer

To enable some of the synchronization capabilities, you must create

user-defined fields in your HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
projects:

To synchronize IDE task statuses with ALM requirements, verify that

an appropriate Lookup List field is defined in the Requirement entity.

To submit source code information to ALM entities, add a Memo Field

to the Requirement and Defect entities.

To submit task associations to ALM entities, add a Memo Field to the

Requirement and Defect entities.

To apply workflow rules to the IDE Connector, prepare a Javascript

workflow file. To download a workflow sample from the Tasktop support
site, go to: http://help.tasktop.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/
com.tasktop.hp.qc.help.ui/html/installation.html.
For more information on creating user-defined fields in ALM, refer to the
HP Application Lifecycle Management Administrator Guide.

Enable IDE Connector Customizer Functionality in ALM

To work with IDE Connector Customizer in ALM, you must enable the
ALM DEV Extension in ALM Site Administration for each project that
requires customization. You can enable the extension for either a new
project or an existing one.
For information on enabling extensions, refer to the HP Application Lifecycle
Management Administrator Guide.

Note: After enabling the IDE Connector Customizer extension, in order for
the new components to load, you must open the Application Lifecycle
Management URL in your browser again.

Work with IDE Connector Customizer

IDE Connector Customizer enables you to define field mappings between
IDE tasks and ALM entities, and to apply workflow rules to IDE Connector.
To work with IDE Connector Customizer:
1 Log in as a project administrator to an ALM project for which IDE
Connector Customizer is enabled.
2 On the ALM main toolbar, select Tools > Customize. The Project
Customization window opens.

3 Click the IDE Connector Customizer link. The IDE Connector Customizer
page opens.

The IDE Connector Customizer page consists of Requirements, Defects,

Tests, and Workflow tabs.
For details on working with the Requirements, Defects, and Tests tabs, see
"Customize ALM and IDE Field Mappings" on page 5.
For details on working with the Workflow tab, see "Apply Workflow to
IDE Connector" on page 8.
4 To save the settings, click Save.

Customize ALM and IDE Field Mappings

Define field mappings between IDE tasks and ALM entities.
To customize ALM and IDE field mappings:
1 On the IDE Connector Customizer page, the settings in the
Requirements, Defects, and Tests tabs affect tasks synchronized with ALM
requirements, defects, and tests, respectively. Define fields as described in
the following table:

Note: Wherever you are required to type an ALM field name, you must
use the system field name, not the field label. For example, for the
requirement Priority field, type RQ_REQ_PRIORITY.

Field

Description

Status field

The ALM field that corresponds to the task status.

Note: For requirements, a user-defined lookup list field
must be added in ALM. For more information on creating
user-defined fields, refer to the HP Application Lifecycle
Management Administrator Guide.

Priority field

The ALM field that corresponds to the task priority.

Map the priority values in the Priority Value Mapping
section.

Source code
information field

The ALM field that receives source code information

related to activated tasks.
Note: A user-defined memo field must be added in ALM.
For more information on creating user-defined fields, refer
to the HP Application Lifecycle Management Administrator
Guide.
Available from: Requirements and Defects tabs

Field

Description

Read-only fields

ALM fields that cannot be edited by IDE users. Specify

fields that should not be changed in the task.
Example: Name, Summary.
Tip: To list multiple values, separate the values with
semicolons (;).
Available from: Requirements and Defects tabs

Hidden
requirement/test
types

Requirement and test types that are not synchronized with

the IDE. Specify requirement and test types that do not
represent actual tasks.
Example: Folder, Group.
Tip: To list multiple values, separate the values with
semicolons (;).
Available from: Requirements and Tests tabs

Priority Value
Mapping

For each task priority value, type a corresponding ALM

priority value, or keep the default values.
Note: In Eclipse IDE, task priority levels are represented by
icons.

Default ALM
Status value for
new
requirements/
defects

The initial status of new requirements or defects that are

created in ALM when you submit new tasks in the IDE.

Mark task as
completed for
following Status
values

Values of the Status field that cause the task to be marked

in the IDE as completed.

The value must be one of the possible values from the

Status field lookup list.
Available from: Requirements and Defects tabs

Tip: To list multiple values, separate the values with

semicolons (;).

Field

Description

Show RBQM
Fields

Instructs the IDE to display RBQM fields in requirement

tasks.
Available from: Requirements tab

Task Association

The ALM field that receives external task relationships,

such as external dependencies and proxy relationships.
Note: A user-defined memo field must be added in ALM.
For more information on creating user-defined fields, refer
to the HP Application Lifecycle Management Administrator
Guide.

2 To reset any changes you made, click Restore Defaults. Default settings
are restored in all tabs.
