restitution for victims of trafficking. Our mission is to enable anti-trafficking advocates and legal providers

Position Description
The position requires the individual to be able to thrive in a flexible, internationally focused and selfmotivated environment within a young nonprofit organization. You must be able to plan, execute and
continuously improve your work independently and/or in close collaboration with colleagues, as
appropriate. ALIGHT is composed of a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about the
organizations mission and lend expertise from their respective disciplines to support a systemic response to
human trafficking.
The Social Media Intern reports to the Director of Marketing, and is responsible for managing the
organizations social media and web presence. This position includes researching, creating and regularly
posting content on all social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter) and driving support
through engagement and discussions with our constituents and followers. The individual in this position will
help forge new relationships to build ALIGHTs visibility, impact and financial resources.
This position serves as a key member of the marketing team. All ALIGHT team members drive, encourage
and motivate other team members. Members of the team are also responsible for representing the
organizations work with external constituents in the anti-trafficking field and international community as
well as team members on a platform of experience and with authority, as well as to be able to speak to the
many aspects of the anti-trafficking agenda.
Responsibilities
Manage Social Media Presence:
Research and be prepared to discuss best practices from content analysis for social media in the
human trafficking field. Propose specific recommendations for the following platforms: Facebook,
Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus.
Research best practices of other human trafficking organizations' social media efforts.

Identify sensitive areas and how others avoid common mistakes and misrepresentations
associated with presenting human trafficking online.
Identify key influencers (both organizations and individuals) in the field.
Research and develop content that focuses on
Legal and advocacy dimension of anti-human trafficking efforts (e.g., cases and proceedings)
International human trafficking issues and patterns
Collaborations taking place across organizations and boundaries (including where there are
gaps in collaborations)
Updates and promotion of ALIGHT outreach , involvement, accomplishments
Updates and promotion of ALIGHT partners work
Manage social media and generate online content that engages audience segments and leads to
measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate.
Identify various resources to find appropriate updated and relevant articles and content for
posting of social media.
Connect to all key influencers and relevant organizations.
Engage in two-way communication with constituents and relevant organizations to build
relationships.

Manage Web Presence:


Recommend and implement improvements to web presence aimed at building support base
Maintain and reinforce tone and linkages between different social media vehicles and website
presence

Support Director of Outreach and Partnerships on tracking and measuring the level of
engagement within the network, especially in relation to social media contacts
Recommend and implement improvements to website

Support Director of Research on identifying and developing resources for website visitors
Other duties as required and assigned by the Director of Marketing and leadership team
Qualifications
Completed or in process of completing graduate degree in field relevant to ALIGHTs work (such as
an MBA, M.S., J.D. or M.A.)
1+ years experience in positions requiring human trafficking or human rights content knowledge and
experience with communications and international focus (relevant professional level work
experience or graduate level courses can be substituted on a year-for-year basis)
Experience with social media tracking softwares and WordPress a plus
Experience in web-based media (e.g., podcasting, blogs, etc.) a plus
Ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to
the right audiences through the best distribution channels
Writes powerfully and persuasively using various styles and effectively addresses different needs and
audiences
Hardworking and dedicated to completing projects, relentless pursuit of excellence & commitment to
continual learning
Ability to work well independently, innovate, problem solve, collaborate and meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills for working with both internal and
external constituents
Projects a professional and polished image that inspires confidence and trust
Comfort in entrepreneurial environment
