Henrys Angels support local charities

Team members from Henry Scheins Cardiff offices volunteered to provide
a better Christmas to seriously ill children and homeless people in their neighborhood

Gillingham/Cardiff, 11 January 2016 A team of Henrys Angels, a volunteer group of Henry

Schein employees, supported local charities before Christmas in order to give something back to
their local community.
On Monday, 14 December 2015, Henry Schein Human Resources Training Officer Peter Silvey
as Santa and his elves, Team Schein Members Sam Mead and Natasha Davies, visited the
children aged between 1 and 15 at the University Hospital of Wales Skye Ward. Christmas
presents were delivered to the children on the ward to spread some joy at a time of the year
when it is especially hard to be in hospital.
The Regional Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Service for Children and Young People,
aged from birth to 20 years of age, is delivered from the Children's Hospital for Wales on the
University Hospital of Wales site. The unit provides a full high level service for children and their
families from the whole of south and mid Wales including Chepstow and Monmouth, and is one
of the 17 UKCCSG Specialist Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Centres across the United
Kingdom. The unit has shared care arrangements with other centres for children and young
people who need radiotherapy, bone marrow transplants, treatment for retinoblastoma and
surgery for orthopaedic malignancy.
We felt very proud that we were able to play a small part in helping to make these children and their
families smile in such difficult times, said Peter Silvey and adds It is great to be part of a team that
gives back to their local community with such amazing enthusiasm.
On Thursday, 17 December 2015, a group of Henrys Angels attended the Huggard Centre, a
Cardiff-based charity tackling homelessness and seeking to overcome the problems and
barriers that force individuals to sleep rough on the streets of Cardiff. The centre is open 365
days a year 24 hours a day and has to rely on volunteers to help run the services provided at
the centre.
The Angel Team helped preparing and serving food to the homeless people. The team also
helped sorting through donated clothes which are handed out to the homeless at the shelter
and last but not least donated over 300.00 towards the food, an amount that was raised from
the Henry Schein Cardiff team Christmas party raffle.
Jo Templeman, Senior Office Administrator at Henry Schein in Cardiff said: Working alongside
the team at the centre was an incredible experience. They do an amazing job providing much
needed support for the homeless of Cardiff. We will definitely be back in 2016."
