2. Why do you want to go to US?
US colleges and universities are the best in the world. They are known for their
facilities and research in my Sustainable Energy field. I will get a world class
education. I will have a chance to get a degree that will be respected
everywhere. I will be able of magnificence of their academia.
I will be able to make new friends from all around the world who have different
perspectives than mine. I will have a chance to teach other people about my life,
my country and my culture. I will have a chance to become a global citizen. I will
be experiencing the United States of America, its history, diversity, natural
beauty, culture heritage and much more.
3. Would you be able to adjust in the U.S.?
I am comfortable with newness and change. I can adapt to new environments
very easily. I think for the past six years I have been only adapting. I want to
learn and grow. I am that kind of person who will enjoy new culture. I perceive
things positively. I have a positive approach towards life.

4. How will you share your experiences in US with your people in
Pakistan? What would you do to help promote mutual understanding
between the people of US and Pakistan?
Social Media!! Blogging. Writing a lot about my experience in USA and sharing it
with my friends and colleagues. Telling them the good and positive things about
USA culture and society. For citizens of USA I think they need to see the true
Pakistan. The Pakistan that is beyond headlines. Telling them that we are
peaceful and hospitable nation.
5. What change would you bring when you go to U.S and when you come
back to Pakistan?
I believe I can make a change in the perception of the people of USA about
Pakistan. Make them look beyond the headlines. Portray a soft image of Pakistan.
In Pakistan I will be focusing on eradicating the problem of energy crisis of the
country.
6. Why this field of study of research when I have no prior experience or
knowledge of it?

Well this is the future off the country. We are lagging in this field. Look at
Denmark which has set a goal of 50 % for energy generation via SES and
Germany has achieved around 30 %. It is the only way through which we can
attain energy security.
7. What has prepared you to pursue this field and complete it
successfully?
my experience at field and my undergraduate studies.
8. Tell them the reason you want to switch from a job to masters?
I always wanted to do Masters in my field of choice. Job was a side thing. It never
was a permanent thing for me.
9. How did you prepare for the Fulbright Interview?
Via facebook and consulting who have already cleared this interview before me.

All of the Fulbright applicants have solid reasons for studying
abroad. What makes your reasons set yourself apart from the rest?
Well Sir I am unique in my own way. I have been a high achiever throughout my
life. The field in which I want to undertake higher studies is in quite initial stage
in Pakistan. I will definitely want to go for higher studies where this field of mine
is developed. Apart from that I also want to go to study abroad to broaden my
horizon. I have that inner desire to experience a new culture especially that of
USA. I want to learn from their academia and their secrets of success. I believe
that I am quite better equip to undergo a foreign study. My problem solving skills
are very good. I acknowledge newness. I adapt to new situations very easily.

Can you tell us the main purpose and background of this
scholarship?
The main purpose was to bridge the gaps between different societies. It was
started by James William Fulbright in 1946.

Why Fulbright?

Why not Sir. Its my best opportunity to experience United States and to achieve
my career goals.

Which University? Why?

Santa Clara University because the program it offers is a mix of both technical
knowledge and analytical courses. The working in the field of Sustainable Energy
Systems has been initiated since 1960. I am very impressed with the course
content.

What challenges do you think you'll face and how will you encounter
them?

I am expecting a little bit to feeling of newness and getting to a place where


everything will be almost new for me. New people new roads new town new
ways. Is bound to happen. And the best way I will be able to cope with is to try to
develop a social life asap. And make sure that I get to know my surrounding
asap. Keep myself motivated with my personal goals. Be proactive about my
physical health and gather as much idea the place I will be going to make the
feeling and cultural shock less.

What was your motivation?
I always tell myself that you are the lucky one and chosen to lead your people
and do something for your people.

How do you think you can make a difference in your country on your
return?
I will facilitate the transition into a sustainable energy resources.
