FAMILIES AT FIRST PRES

First Pres has three rooms to help young families on
Sunday mornings: one nursing room for mothers & infants,
next to the Prayer Room, between the Sanctuary and Lee
Fellowship Hall, and a second nursing room for mothers &
infants, on the 1st floor of Clayton Life Center next to the
elevators.
In addition, we have a Family Room for infants, children and
dads :-) , also on the first floor of Clayton Life Center.
All three rooms have a live television feed from the worship
services.

NOTES

traditional
W O R S H I P

As we begin a new preaching series, our focus today is on

the God/man Christ, his nature, his purpose. The anthem
is drawn from the opening of Johns gospel. John clarifies
in the opening of this book that the Word, in Greek logos,
was the human Jesus. In Greek thought of the day, logos
was the rational principle guiding the universe and making
life coherent. In Jewish thought, logos was the word of the
Lord, an expression of Gods wisdom and creative power.
At the time of Johns writing, logos was viewed as coming
from God and having his personality (Johns perspective).
The logos is God. This idea of the logos was revolutionary
of the greatest order. In Greek thought, the sphere of God
was separated from the mundane world of humanity,
which they called flesh (sarx). John wrote that Christ
became sarx! Do you see how utterly astonishing this
was for the Greeks and the Jews...and for many people
today? Jesus was 100% divine and 100% human. Our
God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the one weve come
to worship this day. (Taken from 2015 Advent Devotional).
