Do not buy the stupid books, rent if you are a book

person, I suggest making copies he makes you actually
read. Overall, no real hw, grade made up of 6 papers
which are moderately difficult but if you show up to
class he goes over in great detail on how to do them, I
recommend him for class, but prepare for super boring

PARTICIPATION MATTERS
I took Mageean's 1A & 1C. He is just a great professor.

Even though the lectures were boring, you still learn a
lot of writing technique. Grading fairly. He gives higher
grade if you work hard on critical thinking. One thing
that I appreciate Prof. Mageean is: he always gives good
feedback to students. The first assignment is the most
impressive.

LECTURES ARE LONG
Dr. Mageean is a laid back and also a very BORING

professor. However, he does repeat himself over and
over again he literally put me to sleep. He is very helpful
if you go to his office hours he will give you plenty of
useful feedback to correct your papers. I totally
recommend him for the wintersummer semester!

attendance is mandatory for him. VERY BORING! LONG

LECTURES. Makes use of every single minute. He gives
outlines for every single essay. NO HOMEWORK, DONT
BUY THE BOOK. HE NEVER USES IT. HE ISNT A STRICT
GRADER, I GOT A B+ AND I DIDNT REALLY TRY.

Just as what people have said before, Mageean's class

can get pretty boring, albeit he has his moments of
unintentional, often awkward, humor that makes the
class laugh nevertheless. His feedback on essays are
constructive and pays very close attention to your word
choice. Highly recommend this professor!

His feed back for essays is amazing. The guy knows quite
a bit about everything so he can help you hash out your
topic. Lectures drag on and he will repeat some things
that he has said in the past, but I still recommend him
especially during intersession.
If you can, you should definitely take his class! He's very
helpful and he always provides feedback on your essays
His class can get really boring, however. Save yourself
the money by not buying the book because it's really no
necessary. He always goes in to detail about the topics
being discussed.
You don't need to buy the textbook because you can

either find the reading online or he'll go over (very
thoroughly) what the reading was about, so save your
money. He explains the essays really clearly and makes
you do an ungraded rough draft for every essay and
gives comments with it so it's clear what he wants from
your final draft.

He's a good professor, explains the material well, and

doesn't try to make your life too difficult. If you put som
effort into the class, you'll do fine. The essays aren't
hard. He'll help you out a lot by giving you tons of
feedback on all your essays. I can't say this was my
favorite class, but, I've had much worse.
No joke about how dragged out this class may seem at

times. I would highly recommend the intersession
course. His essays aren't difficult, just be sure to follow
instructions! Drives everyone a little crazy when
questions are asked about things that have already been
spoken of, and in depth. He is very clear with
requirements so don't be
teacher is very knowledgable and helpful... basically, if

you pay attention to his "lectures", essays
will be easy. he lets you create your own essay promt for
midterm and finals. gives a lot of feedback on your
assignments, basically makes everything as easy as
possible
Overall, easy! Took him in summer and consisted of 1

large essay broken down into 5 small essays that were
all easy. He gives you plenty of time to complete your
essays. Hardly gives hw. Only thing is....hes boring -__2 people found this useful

-___________________- very boring... Yea, the class is

easy because he gives you like 2 weeks to complete an
essay, but I don't like the way he grades.. he gave me a B
(bcus my paper wasn't long enough) when this other gir
(who had many grammar/spelling errors) got an A! I just
didn't think that was fair..
Easy class, but it is beyond boring! The professor talks

very fast and repeats himself so much! We spent like 2
weeks going over the same lecture over and over again,
day after day.. it was torture. People actually stopped
showing up to class LOL. Even tho his class is boring,
Mageean is a nice professor & he is also very helpful.
This class was completely chill, although most of the

time class was extremely boring. He makes jokes here
and there, to try and spice it up. He makes you do little
portions of essays that eventually combine into one
research paper. Even if u miss class he is very
understanding and gives extra time to do work. Almost
reminiscent of a HS class, EZ A

He is a nerd take him! :) All the essays are based on one

topic and you get to choose your topic. It just has to be a
social problem. He is really chill and helpful

Class is usually very boring. His comments on papers ca

sometimes seem rude. Also feel like he's talking down to
you. Other than that the class moved pretty slow and he
grades easy.
I had him for Early British Lit and he is amazing. His

classes are not always exhilarating, but his passion for
literature is always very present. He often writes a full
page response on returned papers to help improve your
writing, and he does this for the whole class; he is
EXTREMELY helpful and genuinely cares. I absolutely
loved his class.
