REPORTS TO:
JOB PURPOSE:
To support the PM & EE and to work as part of the M & E team to provide
implementation and management of Planned Preventive Maintenance and Reactive
Maintenance, M & E design and contract management service to internal and external
clients; by delivering, controlling and directing all M & E related projects in a commercial
and customer focussed way, which achieves programmes, meets performance targets,
and meets the Councils Corporate Objectives.
Ensure that all duties are executed along sound business lines to ensure
competitive costs.
Manage all activities to ensure compliance within approved budgets and general
compliance with the Council standing orders and financial regulations.
Ensure all works comply with the appropriate professional and technical
standards of HSE, DfEE, BSI, CIBSE, IET, HVCA, CORGI and NICEIC etc.
Keep up to date with all appropriate current and relevant practice by participating
in training opportunities and assimilating information from technical and
professional journals.
Work as part of a team delivering co-ordinated solutions with a right first time
approach, sharing failures and successes, assisting others as necessary.

SELECTION CRITERIA
The Selection Criteria for the post should include qualifications, relevant experience,
skills/abilities and styles/behaviors essential to perform the post
Criterion
A HNC/HND in mechanical and/or electrical related environment or equivalent.
Good level of literacy and numerical skills.
B Experience of working within an office environment and good knowledge of MS Office
and specialist programmes.
C Experience of working with Computer Aided Design (CAD), Building Regulations,
Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, Building Construction with
specific mechanical and electrical expertise, and Health & Safety at Work Act.
D Experience in the use of general surveying equipment as necessary in connection
with the M & E Maintenance Engineers role and specialist equipment specific to the
role, such as a light meter, CO2 detector.
E Attention to detail and accuracy in the presentation of data/information, and ensuring
production of construction design complies with all legislative and statutory
requirements.
F Ability to deal with people professionally, politely and sensitively at all levels both in
writing and verbally.
G Experience of managing M & E project related costs and understanding of budgetary
control and records.
H Ability to manage day to day work and prioritising workload, with supervision where
priorities can change on a frequent basis.
I Ability to work as a proactive and supportive member of a team.
J An understanding of, and commitment to, equality and diversity issues.
K Full driving licence and use of own car for business purposes
