Der Umfang des Nachlasses wurde von ihm auf ca. 60 Kisten
geschStzt, in denen er alles gesammelt hat, seitdem er
1912 zum ersten Mai als Aktiver bei den Olympischen Spielen
in Stockholm teilnahm. Inzwischen hat die UniversitSt von
Illinois in Urbana (USA) - Brundage 's Alma Mater - das Archiv
Ubernommen and f estgestellt, dass es nicht ca. 60 Kisten,
sondern 325 wohlgeordnete Archiv-Boxen sind, in denen die
gesamte Sammlung Ubersichtlich und leicht zugMnglich in den
ArchivrHumen der UniversitHt aufbewahrt wird. Das Bundesinstitut
hat grosses VerstHndnis fUr die Entscheidung des ehemaligen
IOC-Pr€sidenten, seinen Kachlass an seine UniversitMt (Iberstellt
zu haben.

On December 2, 1974, Mr. Avery Brundage '09 gave the Avery Brundage Collection
to the University of Illinois.
On February 5, 1975, Mr. Maynard Brichford and Mr. Charles Elston transferred
the 167 boxes listed by Mme. Berlioux from Chicago to the University Archives
in Urbana. The shopping boxes were sorted by type of material into
publications (58), subject files (50), artifacts (29), correspondence and
notebooks (11), clippings (8), scrapbooks and photos (6), stamps (3) and
tapes and films (2).
On March 17, 1975, University President John E. Corbally signed the gift
agreement.
By July 2, 1975, the Archives staff completed sorting books in the Avery Brundage
Collection.

These books have been transferred to the University's
Applied Lifa-Sciences Library.
On July 15, 1975, 25 boxes of artifacts, gifts, medals, pins and posters and
2 statues were moved to Rare Book Room and Library stacks vault.
On October 17, 1975, the University Archives staff complted a 275 page finding
aid for the Avery Brundage Collection. Under the supervision of Mr. Brichford,
Harriet Lombard!, Charles Moss, James Selcraig and Richard Szary processed the
archival material and Susan Hardin and Marsha Piotrowski processed the
publications. Under the supervision of Mrs. Evelyn Arvedson, Andrea Bertelsen,
Jean Duggan, Janet Holzblatt and Holly Martin typed the finding aid.
On October 13, 1976, 25 cartons and four scrapbooks were received from the
Avery Brundage estate.
