Process Paper
Initially, our group possessed limited knowledge, but great interest, in the communication and
alliances between different countries. Eventually we came across information about NATO and
its primary objectives were directly related to our own interests. Once we understood the general
idea behind NATO, we decided that it would be a suitable topic for us to research more
extensively about. The unity between the member countries of NATO during troubling times was
definitely a factor that provided an increasing amount of motivation to look farther into the way
NATO functioned in the past in comparison to how it runs currently.
Research regarding NATO began by figuring out its history and its main purpose. Our group
utilized the internet as well as the public library. On the internet we watched videos and looked
up the current action NATO is taking. From this, the search for credible websites was necessary,
most preferably primary sources. The public library provided secondary sources required for the
project. The internet provided primary and secondary sources.
Originally, our group planned on creating an exhibit to display our research about NATO
but eventually decided to do a group website. This was decided so we would be able to
contribute to our project, despite any inconveniences having to do with our free time. In order to
begin working on this project, one of us created the account and shared the information with the
rest of the group. Afterwards, we neatly organized the information we had researched into
different categories and worked towards giving the website a pleasing design. We worked
together to combine the information we had researched in a logical order in order to give our
website a simple, yet information layout.
Regarding the NHD theme, our topic was able to relate to it in all three ways. For exploration,
any military troops sent out by NATO would be sent into circumstances in which they must

explore different countries depending on what their mission is. The organization as a whole
encounters problems facing its member countries and works towards peaceful solutions unless
absolutely forced into military means. The countries affiliated with NATO also exchange
information with each other in order to work toward the best possible solution to any threatening
situation involving them. Essentially, NATO serves a large purpose in contributing to more
peace and, while doing so, has numerous kinds of communications with its member countries,
allowing for exploration, encounters, and exchange.
