Name of work: Execution of Maniyar Tailrace Small Hydel Project
4 MW(2 X 2 MW)
The K.S.E.Board has decided to implement Maniyar Tailrace Small
Hydel Project 4 MW (2 X 2 MW) and has issued Administrative
sanction for the same.
Maniyar Tailrace Small Hydro-Electric Project is located in River
Kakkad Ar of Pamba basin in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala State
of south India, which envisages the development of power by
utilising the tailrace water from the Maniyar Power house (operated
by M/S Carborundum Universal Ltd CUMI) and the spilled water
from the Maniyar Irrigation barrage besides the water from a free
catchment of 8.283 km2.
The project when completed will add an installed capacity of 4 MW
with a power generation of 16.73 MU/annum.
The K.S.E. Board has insisted to complete the Project within a time
frame of 18 months.
The K.S.E. Board, invites competitive Bid along with pre-qualification
for furnishing the necessary labour, materials, equipment and
services for implementing this Project within a fixed time frame of
18 months.
The works involved in this Bid arei.

Construction of weir, including gates, valves, trash rack,

Intake, river training work at the weir location, Power House,
Switch yard, Tailrace channel, outlet pipes, access roads and
allied works etc.

ii.

Supply, Fabrication, testing, delivery and erection of penstock

to the Power House.

iii.

Planning, Engineering, design, manufacture and supply,

erection, testing and commissioning etc. of electro-mechanical
and hydro-mechanical equipments.

Pre-qualification evaluation criteria:

K.S.E. Board will pre-qualify those Firms/ Contractors which are
considered suitable for works under question. The selection will be
based on the following.
(a)
The Bidder should have successfully executed and
commissioned the hydro-electric generating stations of
capacity not less than 2MW with individual machine
capacity not less than 0.75 MW. These aspects have to be
established with sufficient certificates from the concerned
Department/ Organization.
(b)
The firm /Contractors financial soundness and
capability. This is to be established with clear Documents.
(c)

Technical Capacity-.
i) Availability of construction equipments supported by
documents of ownership.
ii) Availability of Technical Organisation with prescribed

staffing.
The questionnaire and format to evaluate the qualification of the
Bidder, under part 1.B.3 &1.B.4 of the Pre-qualification Bid
documents shall be duly filled in.
Certificates from competent authorities, for the above, is to be
enclosed. Board reserves the right to disqualify any tenderer
without assigning any reason.
The decision of K S E Board will be final and Board will not
be bound to give any reason for the acceptance or rejection
of any firm/Contractor on any account, what so ever.

submission of a written application along with cost of bid document
Rs.9000/- (Rupees Nine thousand) + Taxes at applicable rates
either by cash
or by Demand Draft in favour of Chief
Engineer(IPDS) either by the bidder directly or through his

28th September 2005 to 17th October, 2005. The completed bid
documents shall be submitted on or before 30th November
2005,12.00 Noon.
All Bids should be accompanied with a bid security of
Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rs. Five lakhs) either by cash or demand draft
drawn in favour of the Chief Engineer ( IPDS ) payable at
Thiruvananthapuram.
