"Dear Friends in Chiist,

In this newsletter we hope to bring you up-to-date on the

ETHiopiqn RqDio nmnisTRv

1. At the present time we are producing seven half-hour Christian radio

programs per week for the Oromo people of Ethiopia. We also have many Oromo

refugees who listen in Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, and Kenya.

a. Five of these are evening programs, and two are morning.
b. They are broadcasted by FEBA Radio in the Seychelle Islands.
c. We use about a dozen different kinds of formats.

d. These programs have played a significant part in nurturing Christians and

winning people to Christ. And, in most cases, have been the only way people
could hear the gospel during the past 15years of Marxist rule in Ethiopia.
e. We receive many letters of appreciation telling how much these broadcasts have
helped and encouraged our listeners.
2. Future plans call for:

a. Adding two to three more missionary families to the Radio Ministry.

(Are you interested? If so, contact Herb Works in the Christian Missionary
Fellowship office, P. O. Box 26306, Indianapolis, IN 46226-0306.)

b. Conditions permitting, adding a missionary family in Ethiopia to work with the

radio ministry from that end.
c. SEPTEMBER-ADDING NEW BORANA PROGRAMS.

We are already at work preparing programs in the Borana language which will
be aired TWICE A WEEK, beginning on September 4, 1990.

There are about eight different Borana-related tribes living in Southern Ethiopia and
Northern Kenya, who, for the most part, are "unreached peoples." We praise GJod for
this new and tremendous opportunity.

We ask you to especially pray for us during this time of preparation. It will require a
lot ofextra time and work, not the least ofwhich is to raise the necessary funds. The
Finance Committee of the Christian Missionary Fellowship Board of Directors has
given permission for the Borana radio programs contingent upon funding being raised.
About $22,000 to $25,000 is needed.

Any contributions sent for these new program should be identified BORANARADIO
ACCOUNT for proper receipting.

d. Meeting, some day in heaven, many Borana people who will have been won to
Christ through these new morning radio programs. (How's that for planning for
the future?) Wouldn't you like to share in this new opportunity right from the
very beginning? I'm excited at the prospects, and I hope that you are, too.

Of course, no newsletter from us could ever be complete without thanking you for your
faithful support which began way back in 1966 when we first went to Ethiopia. Your
prayers, letters, cards, good wishes, financial help, and interest have sustained us.
And so once again we say, THANK YOU!
