How to Apply for the AIPGMEE

Examination
The AIPGMEE Examination is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). It is a
national level postgraduate medical entrance exam that medical students will need to write if
they would like to obtain admission to medical colleges within India, with the exceptions of
Jammu, Kashmir, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh colleges. At present, the exam has been
scheduled to take place from December 2-8, 2016.
General Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who would like to write the AIPGMEE Examination will need to be in possession of
an MBBS Degree and they must also have obtained registration from the Medical Council of
India or any of the other State medical Councils. This will only occur after students have
completed their compulsory rotating internship period. Documented proof will be required
before students will be allowed to register, and this proof should be supplied at the time the
application for admission is being made.
Exceptions and Application Process
Students who have already studied and passed their MBBS from the state of Kashmir and
Jammu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are not eligible for the 2016 AIPGMEE Examination. As
a result, these candidates will be required to submit a duly signed affidavit declaring that they
have been nominated by the Government of India (under the central pool seats system) to
complete their MBBS from any of the 4 medical colleges mentioned above. The application for
form the AIPGMEE Exam can only be completed online. Students will need to go to
www.nbe.gov.in/aipgmee and click on the Register for AIPGMEE link to start and finish the
registration process.
Register on Time
After the AIPGMEE Exam has been held early in December, students can look forward to
receiving their results on January 15 of the following year. The cut-off date for students to
apply to write this exam will be October 22, 2015 and no late applications whatsoever will be
considered. Any applications that are considered to be incomplete will be disqualified and no

refunds will be given on application fees. Students who sit for this exam will have to answer a
total of 300 multiple choice questions, and there will be no negative marking of any of the
questions.
Important Points to Remember
Before being allowed to write this exam, students will have to have acquired a Bachelor of
Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from any one of the recognized learning institutions
or universities. At the time of registration, students will need to pay a fee of Rs 2,750 and this
can be paid by means of internet banking facilities or using a debit or credit card. Students
who do not pay this fee at the time of registration will not be able to complete the process,
and their applications will be removed from the system.
After applying to write this examination, students will need to ensure that they put in the
necessary amount of study time and online preparation in order to obtain a passing mark the
first time round.
