Chapter
Alarm Management
This chapter describes alarm classification, opening and exiting
alarm management.
Overview
Alarm management collects and manages various alarms that
occur during the running of the equipment. Alarm management
timely shows the running status of the network and detects
various faults.
The following topics describe the terms and concepts used in
alarm management.
Alarm Classification
Alarms are classified by different standards especially by nature,
time, system type, and alarm level.
Alarm Nature
Alarm
An alarm is a fault that occurs and persists during the
running of the system and affects the normal services and
reliability of the system.
Notification
Notification is a fault or event that occurs during the running
of the system and is irrecoverable. Examples are board
restart and false power failure of a board.
Since such faults often result from accidental reasons such
as sudden environmental changes, no specific actions are
required in such cases. Find out the cause, locate, and
resolve it when a notification occurs frequently.
Alarm Type
Current alarm
History alarm
A history alarm is an alarm that has occurred and has been
cleared.
System Type
Correlation alarm
The alarms that occur in the system are correlated in some
way, and the alarms are generated according to the
correlation rule.
iTC alarm
The alarms that concern the iTC equipment condition during
the running of the system.
Link alarm
When the link between the iTC equipment and OMC server is
interrupted, the background alarm module generates link
alarm.
OMC alarm
The OMC alarm is reported when a fault occurs during the
running of the OMC.
Security alarm
During the running of the system, some security event
notifications are generated to alert the administrator.

Chapter
Test Management
This chapter describes test management including test types and
test methods.
Overview
Test management is responsible for routine and instant tests of
Base Station Subsystem (BSS) and ensures that the whole
system runs normally and stably. When fault occurs, test
management is used to find out the fault cause as early as
possible. After troubleshooting, it is used to test whether the
physical equipment and the system have recovered to normal
and ensures that the whole system is stable.
For both instant test and routine test, system automatically
saves test results, so user may query the test result at any time.

Instant Test
Instant test is the test task initiated in real-time. At the end of
the test, system immediately returns the test result. Therefore,
instant test is applicable to the system recovery during fault
diagnosis and after the fault is removed.
Instant test may be initiated in the following two ways:

Routine Test
Routine test is the customized test task. At the end of the test,
system does not return the test result immediately. User may
query the test result as required. Therefore, the routine test is
used to customize the routine maintenance test tasks.
Routine test means the system automatically executes the test
tasks according to the customized test items and test period. It
is usually used in the routine maintenance, to minimize the
workload of operators.
Note: Do not schedule the test task execution during peak
traffic hours, as the increase in foreground load upon task
execution affects system stability and service quality.
