bhairavanAthamanAtha sharaNyam tvanmayachittayA hridi vandE
who pervades the entire world who is the universal consciousness, without a
second, eternal, who is the ultimate refuge to the helpless, I offer adoration
to Him Lord Bhairava, from my heart deeply absorbed with concentrated mind.

tvanmayamEtadashEShamidAnIm bhAti mama tvadanugrahashaktyA

tvam cha mahEsha sadaiva mamAtma svAtmayam mama tEna samastam
O Mahesha! With the divine grace of thy kindness this entire universe looks
nothing but thy manifestation ie, Bhairava himself is in the form of this
universe, and without Bhairava this universe has no existence. Thus wherever I
see thee O Bhairava, I see you as my own self and hence this entire universe too
seems to be my ownself.

svAtmani vishwagatE tvayi nAthE tEna na samsrutibhItih kathAsti

stasvapi durdhara dukha vimohatrAsavidhAyiShu karmagaNeShu
O lord! This entire universe is thy manifestation and realizing myself as one
with the universal being; how can I be frightened by austere and unbearable
agony or sorrow as a result of frustration from endless actions that bind us to
ceaseless circle of life and death.

Antaka mAm prati mA drishyamEnAm krodhakarAla tamAm vidadhIhi

Shankara sEvana chintanadhIro bhIShaNa bhairava shaktimayo(a)smi
O antaka, the lord of Death! Do not cast your ghastly look upon me in wrath
and dreadful posture. Absorbed in dedicated to Lord Shankara and adept in
absorbing meditation to Lord Shankara I am guarded with terrible and
extraordinary energies of Bhairava, the Lord of Creation, Sustenance and
Destruction.

With the dawn of the rays of eternal truth and the universal consciousness, I
having realized the basic fundamentals and reality of the objective world, have
attained salvation, liberation being full with the nectar flowing from the
objects with the complete identification of my soul with the universal
consciousness.

nAtha tadaiva mama tvadabhEdastotra parAmrita vriShTirudEti
The moment the agony of worldly miseries disturb my mind, simultaneously the
very moment, the non-dualistic ideas (meditation) resulting in the raining of
showers of nectar of oneness destroy all pains and sorrows of mine.

shankara! Satyamidam vratadAna snAna tapo bhava tApa vinAshi

tAvaka shAstra parAmritachintA syandhati chEtasi nirvritti dhAra
O Shankara, Destroyer of all evils! It is a fact and truth that the universal
miseries are warded off by observing penances as keeping fasts, by giving dana
and taking daily baths. But the meditation upon the devotional scriptures of thy
praise bring about the showers of nectar leading to bliss and eternal joy

tvAm priyamApya sudarshanamEkam durlabhamanyajanaih samayajnam
O Bhairava! You are matchless, you have the dearest and beautiful look, easily
accessible by devotees, but inaccessible by people devoid of devotion. My
consciousness having realized your real nature, enjoy through dancing and
singing in ecstasy.

Abhinava Gupta the great acharya composed this hymn in the month of
Pausha
on 10th day of the dark fortnight in the year 68 SE (900 AD) and owing to this
hymn, all pervading Bhairava, being merciful, destroys all the world miseries of
his devotees, instantaneously out of compassion
