Almighty Allah has created man in the best of moulds and has granted us the ability to differentiate right from wrong. All people have been created with two basic qualities. One, being Angelic Qualities and the other being animalistic qualities. Man only reaches great heights of spiritual excellence and closeness to Almighty Allah when his Angelic qualities overpower his animalistic qualities. When a person becomes spiritually successful, he becomes virtuous and blessed. There are numerous virtuous qualities that we possess, but two very important qualities are patience and sincerity. We should learn to be patient at all times and teach others to be patient. Almighty Allah says in the Glorious Quran Verily Allah is with those who are patient In other verse of the Holy Quran, Almighty Allah says, And Allah loves those who are patient. Patience and sincerity give great excellence to a person. The best example of patience and sincerity can be learnt from the life of the most exalted of Allahs Creation, the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa . After the Prophet announced his Nabuiwat, the Kufaar-e-Makkah persecuted the Beloved Rasool and his blessed companions. They threw thorns on his path, they threw the intestines of animals over his neck and threw dirt on him when he walked through the Holy City.
Hazrat Ameer-e-Hamza , the uncle of the Prophet was killed
by the Kufaar. He was mercilessly slain and his body parts where severed and used as a necklace on the neck of his persecutors. After all this, the Holy Prophet Peace and salutations upon him still remained patient and sincere in striving for the Deen of Almighty Allah. Sahaba-e-Kiraam of the Prophet Peace and salutations upon him were persecuted by the Kufaar by they never rejected their faith in Allah. Hazrat Bilal-e-Habshi was that personality who would be dragged on the burning sands of Arabia and extremely hot boulders would be placed on his chest and back. He too, remained patient and never complained. He was always grateful to Allah taaala. One must remember that none can receive spiritual excellence without sincerity. A person can donate thousands of Rands in charity, but he will never attain any blessings if his intention is for pleasing the people and showing others that he is a charitable person. A person should portray sincerity and do things like Ibaadaat solely for the pleasure of Allah. No matter what difficulty, illness or hardship we face, we should be patient. Sayyida Aisha (radi Allahu anha) narrates that the Prophet Peace and salutations upon him) "No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn." (Bukhari) The Prophet passed by a woman who was weeping beside a grave. He told her to fear Allah and be patient. She said to him, "Go away, for you have not been afflicted with a calamity like mine." And she did not recognize him. Then she was informed that he was the Prophet Peace and salutations upon him, so she went to the house of the Prophet Peace and salutations upon him and there she did not find any guard. Then she said to him, "I did not recognize you." He
said, "Verily, the patience is at the first stroke of a calamity."
(Bukhari) It is reported on the authority of HazratAbu Saeed Al-Khudri: Some Ansari persons asked for (something) from the Prophet Peace and salutations upon him and he gave them. They again asked him for (something) and he again gave them. And then they asked him and he gave them again everything that was with him (at that time). And then he said "If I had anything. I would not keep it away from you. (Remember) Whoever abstains from asking others, Allah will make him contented, and whoever tries to make himself self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient. And whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience." (Bukhari) We should thus live like true believers and be patient when we are faced with difficult situations rather than complaining.
