BEGINNERS WORKSHOP PROPOSAL

This is a workshop designed for beginners and robotics enthusiasts of all disciplines. They
would be introduced to the basic fundamentals of robotics and will learn to apply them in real
life. Hands-on sessions will help them understand the practical aspects too. The students will
learn the basics concepts and will gain the practical experience while working on the robotics kit
specially designed and developed by MITBOTS promoted by Robotics Foundation of
India (RFI), a body of IIT Delhi evangelists.(henceforth referred to as “RFI”)

The workshop would help them to enter the world of robotics and to create
an aptitude in the limitless field of robotics. The workshop will help them to get the feel of
robotics and how powerful and exciting it can be.

The course content has been extensively developed by MITBOTS promoted by RFI having
years of experience in robotics industrial and education solutions. It is as follows:

CONCEPT 1: Wired Robotics

In this session basic perception of robotics at university level is developed in mind of students

Various kinds of transmission systems, which can be used in building a basic robot, are
introduced. After general introduction, the major elements of transmission systems like
gears, belt and pulleys, chain sprockets etc are discussed in detail. Comparisons of
above said transmission systems are performed helping in deciding the most suitable
transmission system.

GOOD ENGINEERING PRACTICES

 Bearing
 Bushing
 Coupling
 Linkages

In this session the participants are told about the importance of applying good
engineering practices while making a robust machine. Concepts related to bearing,
bushings etc are discussed. The practical issues while implementing these are talked
about.

BASIC ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEM

 Various types of switches available

 DPDT Switches
 Limit Switches
 Relays

The final controlling of a machine after building it, is taught in this section. The various
kinds of switches, relays etc are shown and taught to the participants. How to make the
connections for a manual control is made clear with the help of hands on session. Use
of RC control is also discussed in brief.

ASSEMBLING THE WIRED ROBOT

 Fixing and aligning the mechanical assembly.

 Placing the motor Driver Circuit
